I have been in some of the 'secret society' buildings here on The Cape. Sometimes they are used for Red Cross blood drives. Didn't realize it until you mentioned it, newenglandlegends, but they did have some things covered over. Didn't give it a thought at the time. I remember seeing a stage of sorts that had very ornate chairs on them, almost like thrones. There were some symbols here and there as well.
Now with a different vantage point, I want to go back - LOL. Got to keep my eyes open for the next blood drive that they have.
I love old buildings too, and not just for the possible haunted factor. I love the architecture of old buildings. I figure when a building is 100+ years old, still standing and in pretty good condition, then they did something right when they built them. I have also noticed that if you look at them carefully, you can sometimes find moldings or mason work or other decorative items that are actually symbols that tell something about the builder or the occupants. I find that to be true in a lot of old churches. >^o.o^<

Yes!! That is the exact same book I have. It is one of the best books that I have seen, and I have learned so much from it. I bought it (for the same price) when I was in Alton, IL last week. >^o.o^<

I would never bring a camera in. Might leave it in the car and maybe ask if I could take pictures because I found the building to be interesting. And if they said "no", so be it. It's their building and they have the right to say no. Hmmmm, guess I could always disguise note taking as writing a letter to someone -LOL. >^O.O^<

ROFL - sneaky That's a good idea, but I am the epitome of Murphy's Law - if you're doing something you're not supposed to, you will get caught! One of the last things I want to do is PO a secret organization, that's for sure. Hmmmmmm, I do like the camera pen idea though . >^o.o^<

I checked out your listing of gravestone symbols. That was a pretty good listing that you compiled; had some things in there that I had not seen before. ;D The more information I come across, the more I find to include in my presentation on Cape Cod Gravestones. The hard part is condensing it all down to just 2 hours. >^o.o^<

Too much information and not enough time, LOL! I hope I can get out to see one of your presentations!! I'm hoping I can get one of the tours into my schedule! I know I'd sooo enjoy it!! Oh, I forgot, is it ok if I post your schedules on my sites so locals can go too??

Well, I'll put so much into the presentation, but I'll keep adding to it even after I'm done with it.........if that makes any sense. I already have about 600 pictures from local graveyards. yeah when people pick up a photo album in my house and open it, they don't know what to think...LOL. Some pictures will go into the presentation , and some will stay in the albums for people to look through. I find graveyards to be such a fascinating subject. I see no reason why you can't post the tour schedules on your site; however, you never know if things might change, so people should either call or check the CAIPRS website to be sure of the dates. Thanks. >^o.o^<

Excellent! I just like helping to get the word out for all my buds!! I can hardly wait, I hope I can get to go on a tour soon! It's just been so crazy around here, and with having the nerve facet on my back a couple weeks ago, it slowed me down a bit! I want to go so bad, it will be great to see you guys again!!

Symbolism is a pretty extensive subject so its hard to keep it short. Good luck with your presentation glad to hear I may have helped in some way.

After the Holiday week and things slow down a bit for me I'll work on adding ex. photos to go with each symbol.
