I’ve been interested in some of the high tech planes that are “black” projects lately. It is really amazing what some of these planes that have been declassified already can do. Looking like something like the SR-71 and B2 Bomber makes you feel like you are in some sci fi movie. Now there is thought to be a plane that is leaps and bounds more advanced then either of those amazing machines. It is commonly known as “Aurora” but I’m sure it has some other code name now. The reports of what this plane can do greatly vary. I’ve read everything from Mach 4 to an unmanned Mach 20 plane. It is hard to comprehend speeds like that. Also the heights it can fly and the maneuverability it has. What is even more amazing is this plane is thought to have been produced in 1989 meaning it has been kept quiet a long time and it might even be retired and replaced by something else already. Technology from 17 years ago is old so who knows what this can do. This brings up a lot of different subjects. It brings into question where the technology to fly like that came from. That is not to say that man isn’t able to do this on his own. With unlimited amount of resources, secrecy, and highly skilled people almost anything is possible. Still it brings up the whole UFO thing. So what do you think Lockheed is doing out at old Groom Lake and where did they get their ideas? Anyways, here is some info on Aurora: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurora_aircraft

Yes the "Aurora" is a real aircraft that used a- pulsed scramjet engine ( It's contrail looks like a bunch of smoke-rings). It was part of the semi-classified "Tallships" program that gave us the F-117(stealthfighter) codenamed-goldsmith and the B-2(bomber) codenamed-silversmith under the "tallships" program. The "Aurora" was discontinued due in part to costscuts and less than steller performance. It has a pumkinseed shape and a very low radarsigniture, but the engine puts out far to much heat and noise and a very noticeable and distinct contrail as mentioned. Thats is in part why they pressed the SR-71 back into service.( I guess the old skunkworks had a real stinker on there hands-lol) Hope that helps.

Hmm pretty interesting! It's amazing the things we can build. I'm surprised it had so many problems with design though!

Is there anything out there that has a least some crediable rumor to it existing that has a great performance then the SR-71? I'm talking about something that is "black" but has a rumor that it exsists. I used the term "Aurora" as a well known name for such a plane but it turns out it does indeed exsist by sounds like that project failed a bit. Is there anything out there that exceeds the speeds and has a better performance of either the SR-71 or what was the failed Aurora?

Also everytime I read about such projects usually it is Lockheed's name attached to it. What about Northrop and Boeing doing such projects? Northrop made the B-2 right?

Well, maybe they are making such crafts, but it's being kept undercover. >^o.o^<
