Well basically, I'm looking for a new place to be lazy and odd, and I'm currently top of the list for a certain small apt building in Acushnet. Without causing too much of a ruckus, let me just say it's on Main St., just over the NB/Acushnet line, and smack dab next to the Acush. river The funny thing is, when I mentioned it, someone said they heard about it on Spooky SoCo. (I think I've heard almost every episode, but if this particular local was mentioned, it must have slipped my mind.) Something about odd goings-on, and problems keeping tenants. Another friend of mine said she flat out heard the place was haunted. (When the realtor was questioned about this, there was no denial, only the statement that she "wouldn't know about any of that". Hmmmm. ) Does anyone know the place I'm talking about, and can you enlighten me to as to the specifics of this activity. (Keep in mind, anything short of a demonic haunting would probably be an interesting bonus for me, so please don't spare any pertinent details.)

Yes...I think I do know the house you're speaking of. I'll try to look in my records, I think I might have some reports on this house. If it's the house I'm thinking of someone I know did some research on it, and if it's the house I'm thinking of there's a story that the girl who once lived there, it's an old house, fell in love with an English soldier. Her father, a patriot, forbade it and supposedly locked her in the house, and supposedly it is her spirit who haunts the house. I've also heard stories, if this is the house I'm thinking of, that the original owner faced down 5,000 British guns with one single gun! That's if this is the house I'm thinking of, and if the stories are true. I'll see if I can find a link for the house, and you let me know if it's the same one, or not!
(It's just a square house with windows all the way around around it sits on the north side of the street, on the northwest corner of the river sort of?)

Ah, I know the house you're talking about, and I'm pretty sure now that I think of it, that must be the one that's haunted. However, the place I'm looking at is a larger multi-residence building across from it on the NE side of the river. So I'll probably sleep better there, though I might be a little bored for lack of ghosts. (If you find any of the links though, I'd love to see them, seeing as I might be staying right next door.)

I was looking for the darn links yesterday and couldn't find them. I may have them in my old notes from way back then, so I'll have to go looking through boxes for those and that may take me a bit longer to find. I'm trying to picture the house you're speaking of. If I think of anything about that one I'll let ya know, but off the top of my head I can't remember hearing anything about another one over there. If I find the darned links I will definitely post them for ya!

I truly appreciate your help. Please don't go through all the boxes just for me! If you do come across some links in the future, I'd love to see them. Again, many thanks!

When I was in grade school, 30+ years ago a friend told me his mother lived in the house on the N.W. side of the river. As I remember some pretty strange things went on there.

Thank you for the, welcome I'm looking forward to future contact. About that house in Acushnet, I hadn't thought about it for quite some time until I saw this posting. From what I can remember she told us stories about noises, footsteps, and occasionally when a pair of shoes would be left together at night in the morning one would be moved to a different location.

Interesting! There's quite a bit of history in Acushnet, and it's where I grew up, so always interested in a good ghost story about my home town! It's where my own ghost story started, LOL, so I guess it's got a soft spot in my heart! There's so much history in this area, it seems one could investigate for years and never run out of new ghosts to meet!

Yes there is a lot of history in our area, I'm sorry to say sometimes I take it for granted. I am very interested in stories of local haunts, especially when related to history (i.e. King Philips war and Metacomet's ties to local areas like the Freetown State Forest, Assonet Ledge and Anawan Rock.) I consider myself a skeptical believer when it comes to all things paranormal. As they say seeing is believing and even then I find myself needing a second look.

I think it's awful that we were never taught what we did to the Wampanoags. As a kid I remember coloring the Indians and Pilgrims and learning about the first Thanksgiving, and digging up arrowheads in my back yard, and wondering, what happened to the Indians. I really enjoy investigating Anawan Rock. I have Native American blood so it means a lot to me to commune with these spirits. I think I got some great evidence out there for the Spooky Crew, and I'd go out there again! It was a great experience!
