G Day
Thought i would let everyone know of a few of the spirits in Australia . I ve been very interested in paranormal for 20 years and have always talked to many people during my life and many are happy to releate there storys so i always ask if they have any ghost or ufo etc storys . Every story ill tell you is direct from a person that i talked to, and was there direct experience and not second hand he said she said . Ive got a ton of very interesting storys
Ok ill start off with a very weird one .
My friend went to a campfire with a bunch of aboraginies , to a spot called lake's enterance ( Lakes enterence is about 5 hours from Melbourne ) . Burke and a bunch of friends were all sitting around a fire chatting etc and burke ( my friend ) said he seen two small greenish yellow glowing lights moving toward him from the bush . He turned to the others with him and said whats that . And turned back to look at the small lights and what he seen gave him nightmares . He swore to me that he seen a man moving towards him , this man was one foot off the ground , burke said the legs where moving like a train > I said what do you meen moving like a train , he then moved two of his finger back and forth very fast to show me what this mans legs looked like . HE said even though the feet where off the ground he could see rocks etc spitting up from the ground below the feet . If all that was nt scary enough he said the small green/yellow glowing lights where its eyes .
I was with my wife and a few other friends while burke told us this story . Our aboraginal friend Len started laughing at burke . ( Len was the one who took burke down to Lakes Enterance ) . And Len told us that this is a well know spirit that has been seen many times. ( The locals call this spirit ( The Lad ) Len was there when this all happened , and said that soon as burke said whats that , He and all the locals who know of this spirit ran like the wind and dived into there cars . They had glanced in the direction that burke had pointed to , and knew it was the Lad comeing from the bush . Burke did nt know of this spirit so that,s why he turned back and got a good look at it .
Burke swore he seen this with his own eyes , and wish he had never seen this spirit because it gave him nightmares . And Len backed him up swearing this spirit is very well know to the local aboraginies around lakes entrance and its seen from time to time . Very creepy and a story i was told directly by burke and Len .

Hello!! Great to have you with us! I just became an auntie to an Aussie, so it's great to know another one!! Welcome aboard!
That's a great story, I so wish I could come out there some day, I can investigate some of the interesting haunts I've heard about down there, but to meet my friend from down under, who I've known for a long time and love, but have never gotten to meet. She just had a baby, and boy is my new nephew adorable! (Sorry, had to brag!) She's told me a few stories and sent me links about some of the haunts. Maybe someday I'll get to travel there and investigate with you guys!!
One question, did Burke know about this local spirit before he went, or only after he had seen it?

G Day aneaglesangel ( Thanx for the warm welcome and congrats on your new family addition . Also Hope you get to see Oz in the future , its a great place )
RE Burke , no he did nt know of the spirit before hand ( Thats why he looked back at it ) When i talked to him about it ( only a few weeks after he still looked spooked and was very serious while telling us his story ) .
Here s a interesting one
My brother and his friend told me that they went to a friends house in footscray (a suburb in melbourne) . And while there the family showed them a small shadow that is on there kitchen wall . They said it looks like a stick man holding a tophat in its hand ( its hold the top hat above its head the shadow is about 10 inchs high and they drew a picture for me ) Now the weird bit is if you hold your hand in front of the shadow it casts onto your hand . ( There s nothing that throws off this shape in or out of the room and they tested etc , because they thought they where trying to trick them ) . At first the family said they had painted the wall thinking it was a stain on the wall itself . Also of interest is the family said from time to time the shadow would go for a few days , but always returns . The family call this shadow Fred .
Hers a short but interesting one .
I was at a friends house a week after this happened and in the house it happened in .
He said the kids where in the lounge room jumping off the couch , playing making lots of noise ect . After a while one of the kids came in looking very white like he had the wind knocked out of him , gasping And could nt talk . When asked what just happened all the kids said that he had jumped off the couch onto a ghosts back . There where quite a few kids in the room and when grilled all the children stuck to the story that the winded child had jumped onto a ghosts back .
i wonder if it was the shock of seeing the ghost or touching it that knocked the wind out of the child .

Wow! Sounds interesting for sure! The house with the children, is it the same house as the one with the shadow?

No its not connected with the shadow house . I never seen the shadow myself my brother and friend told me about it .
I did some windown cleaning the other day for a 90 year old lady named Flo and i asked her about ghosts . She is still all there and a fantastic person , and was happy to tell her story .
Dureing WW2 she lived in london and said there was an air raid . After the raid they took all the children back to bed and turned the lights off . Flo said she felt cold fingers on her face and called her friends name saying jeez your cold . No one answered so she put on a light , and looking at here was a old man . She said he looked solid like you and me , Anyway she screamed and here father came running in with a friend . Flo described the man and the friend said ohh don't worry that was mister brown , he died in the palour you sleep in . She seemed to think they had also seen the ghost and also known mr brown .
I forgot to ask her what happend to the man , but of interest is she said he spoke to her saying ( its all right ) And was 100% sure this was a ghost . Ill ask her some more details next time i see her .
Ok i know the above was nt in Australia but thought it was a goodie
This one is from a friend named Ron , Ron he told me one night he stepped into the hall from the bathroom and there was a fairly large dark shape moving up the hallway towards him . The dark shape and ron basicly ran into each other , I grilled ron and all he could say was he was nt sure if it went thru him or hit him and then went over him . It all happened fairly quick , but he said it scared him very badly and he was nt sure what it was .

Ok here s great one from mythology or so these fellows thought was just a myth
I was talking to a bunch of Aboriginal's a few years back . So we start talking about ghosts etc and they start talking about these small hairy creatures that stand 3 foot tall . These fellows grew up in melbourne went to school with me etc , and had heard all the myths and always laughed many of them off as just myths . One fellow in his 30s told me he had stopped on his motorcycle out in the middle of nowhere to rest and said he looked behind his cycle and seen one of these creatures running towards him . He said it was 3 foot tall and hairy and seen it from the glow of his stoplight . But he said he told everyone when he arrived to where he was going and the elders said there called ( net n Nets , This is wrong spelling sorry as im not sure how to spell it but you pronounce it net n net ) Anyway he took off soon as he seen it , but said it almost had him . At the same time another fellow said he was with some elders one day as the sun was going down and seen a bunch of movement and shapes on the top of a hill , and the elders told him that they where net n nets up on the hill and to keep away from them as there dangerous .
He said that few people are aware that there are many different types with individual names from different regions . He also said that most people still think there just old storys to keep the kids from going down to waterholes etc but he swears he seen this with his own eyes .
Here s another cool story that a fellow told at the same time .
He said he was walking with a few friends at night down a bush track and out from behind a tree jumped a tall dark shape that punched him in the belly . He said the freaky bit was this spirit was hidding behind a tree next to the track and that the tree was only a few inchs wide so that there s no way a human could have hidden behind it without him seeing them . It was a full moon and he said this was a spirit for sure , as it was very skinny , and very tall . He could nt make out any other feature s , but it punched him hard and dissapeared . How skinny i asked him and he said skinny enough to hide behind a tree that was only a few inchs wide .
Its very hard to find much info on a lot of the Aboriginal spirits and beleive me if you dig into this area there are some very interesting storys of spirits that are still active today and unknown unless your a local ( they keep these storys very quite ) . Yes you can find info on the dreamtime spirits etc but these fellows told me there are some real nasty spirits that are passed of as old storys but are much more .

Wow that's pretty interesting! Sounds very similar to the puckwudgies of America! Native Americans believed that puckwudgies were best left alone also. I'm tending to believe in them quite a bit more since a good friend of mine actually saw one in Vermont when she was visiting friends. They didn't seem to be all that surprised when she told them she'd seen one. When you see a puckwudgie you're not supposed to mess with them, or they will repay you by playing nasty tricks on you, or following you and causing trouble. I recently read "Passing Strange" a book by Joseph Cintro, and was totally amazed at how many puckwudgie stories there were about New England!
The second story is pretty interesting too, I wonder what type of spirit that was, to make itself so thin so it can hide. Wonder if it's the spirit of a mugger?? A mugger or criminal may hide behind a tree and jump out and attack someone. Guess we'll never know, unless we get to see it for ourselves!

Intereting they do sound similar to your puckwudgie , ill do a bit more reading on them as there new to me . I found these net n net storys to be very interesting too , you get plenty of talk about the yahoo ( its a kin to your bigfoot ) . But little talk about the net nets . i think the elders don't say much about them as they fear them . i ve seen a few bits here and there that say the net n nets are fairly big , but the people i ve spoken to say there very small , and there s two types . i ve spoken to a few people who seen a yahoo running next to there car , and got quite a few other storys . Plus the early settlers seen and documented them in the newpapers of the time . The aboriginal's i ve talked to about the yahoo said its like a missing link , would run through there camp sometimes and steal a kanga they captured for food etc . They have no doubt the yahoo is a real flesh and blood hairyman , and i agree 100% . But of great interest is the aboriginal's clearly put these net n nets into a different class , there evil and nasty . The aboriginals are wary of the yahoo , but there very scared by the net n nets and 100% sure there real creatures . Here s a pic of a few net n net puppets , not sure how accurate they are . But i would guess this is a good idea to how they look , these are the hairy type with red eyes . The another type that are blue or blue grey . These ones are sometimes seen with min min lights (i think there called will o the wisp lights in the U.S.A ? ) They take you and somehow they feed you and also feed off of you or turn you into a net n net . Even tough the storys slightly vary from tribe to tribe , one thing they argee on is there real and there dangerous .

I ve never heard of a mugger , but sounds like this is what many have hit this fellow . He said he did nt know what the hell it was , and he also said he now has a new respect for the storys he has been told by the elders .
I also heard a story from a fellow who said when he was young a dark shape jump in front of him and yelled boo . I said thats weird and he said tell me it scared the crap out of me . But he said just that , a dark shadow ish shape jumped right out in front of him and yelled BOO . Now that you mention this mugger this may have been a similar thing but it did nt attack him as he as fairy young . He said he was only about 9 or ten when he seen it and it was during daylight too .
While we are talking about shadows i ve got 2 goodies for you
Mic a very good friend of mine that ive know for 25 years told me his story . He used to drive a trailor full of wheelie bins down to the pickup point . The bins where full of rubbish and the pickup point was a clearing just off the road and fairly bushy . Anyway he said one day just before dusk he was unloading the bins and a shadow walked past him , right in front of him . I said whats so weird about that , and he said it looked like a man with a coat on but it was five feet in front of me , made no noise and there s no way it was human . I then told him about shadow people and this is what he now thinks it was . But he still sticks to the story that it was'nt human because he got a real good look at it and from only five feet away .
Another one i got from a security guard that was on night shift at a quarry . He said he was sitting in the security office and kept seeing what he thought was someone running across a large pile of rubble . So he turned the lights off in the office so he could get a better view and he seen the same thing a dark shape running , he said he could see the arms swinging etc . So he ran across to the rubble pile that was only 20 meters away thinking he was going to capture some kids in there as the rubble was totaly surrounded by a high barbed wire fence , but when he got there there was no one to be seen . He said there no way on earth anyone could have got out of where he had seen the figure , as he had seen it a quickly ran across . He swore there was something that looked human , was swinging its arms and running in this sealed area and there s no way someone could have hidden or got out of this area . He did nt know what it was but when i asked if he had any weird storys thats the one he had and he said it creeped him out .

I often wonder about the bigfoot and puckwudgie, and yeti sightings. Could it be that worldwide these creatures are somehow related? They seem to have many similarities. Just as man crossed over into North America from Asia, could these hairy creatures have done the same thing and populated the earth? Are the even corporeal beings at all? For funny we never find their skeletons or any sign of them, but yet, people continue to see them. Are they spirits, or are they real beings?
Great stories, it's so awesome to hear ghost stories from down in Australia. I'll probably never get to know there, but it's great to hear about its legends and ghost stories!!!!

Great stories, it's so awesome to hear ghost stories from down in Australia. I'll probably never get to know there, but it's great to hear about its legends and ghost stories!!!! Angel never say never you may get to see oz oneday . ;D I could nt say if the bigfoot and puckwudgie etc are related to other similar creatures around the world . But as you said many of these storys are similar so the fact that we are even saying similar is interesting . I think we should continue to gather as much info as we can so its on record for future investigation . Your theory of these creatures crossing the land bridges thousands of years ago could very well be true , i would go along with it myself as its how us humans spread over the globe . I know the aboriginal's ive spoken to say the yowie is just a missing link type of creature its a living breathing animal . But the Net N Nets are very different and in a class of there own . The aboriginal's and your americian tribes have been seeing these creatures and spirits for ages , they know the land and everything on it back to front and have no doubt that there real . Why no skeletons is anyones guess , but ill go along with the theory that there picked clean quickly . I used to hunt many years ago and australia is plagued with rabbits , but ive rarely seen a skeleton . Same with cows we see them all over the place alive , but you only see the odd skeleton . The bigfoot and many of these other creatures are rare and in bush filled rugged terrain so we ve prob got more chance of getting shot up the rear by a rainbow than finding the skeleton of a bigfoot etc . Glad you like the storys ill keep them flowing . I also find the storys from your side of the pond very good , keep em flowing too . If you get a chance plz put your friends puckwudgie experience on the site , ask her if see can draw a picture ? I did find a few storys on the net and a picture of the puckwudgie . If you can find any pics or other info it would be of interest as the picture i found of the puckwudgie was like a basic kids drawing and not much detail . The net n nets do seem to have similar features Small height , largeish belly and big nose so would be interesting to compare better pictures or drawings . Would be interesting to compile pictures of all small hairy creatures as well as others for comparision . This may help connect some dots with some of the creatures in oz to those in the U.S.A and elsewhere . We reserve the all rights to the book and all storys too . ;D There was a documented case in the late 1960 in oz where a fellow and his son where attacked by a small creature while sleeping in a old miners hut . Ill try find it ive got it somewhere . But basicly they where alseep and this thing dragged the father out of his bed at night and was trying to drag him out of the hut . The son watched the attack but frooze with fear . The father ended up escaping but said the creature was small , unknown , very strong and when he punched it it felt like he was hitting a hard jello type rubbery body .

Hmm, that's true about the bones, animals do tend to pick things clean. But I still wonder, not even one bone, hmm.
The Native Americans here seem to me to think the puckwudgie is some sort of spirit. If you see one, they believe you should ignore it and not give it any cause to give you trouble. For I guess if you mess with them, they'll mess back with you.
My friend was in Vermont visiting friends when she saw her puckwudgie. She was traveling in her car and happened to notice something moving on the side of the road. She looked right at it and their eyes met. She said he was hairy all over, I think if I remember right, she said his hair was reddish in color. She said he wasn't very tall, maybe four feet tall, and if I asked if maybe she thought he could be a baby, she said oh no, he was a man alright. She says he had muscles and the build of a grown adult. And when their eyes met she said he had this look on his face as if to say, darn she saw me. The puckwudgie contintued on his way, she continued on hers, losing sight of him. When she got to her friend's house and reported the sighting, no one seemed very surprised. They told her if she wanted they could show her footprints of one, they seem to see them all the time where they live.
