As promised, aneaglesangel - this is from our 10th Anniversary trip in mid-May of this year - I'll start with a view of the hotel which was built from 1900 to 1902 when it opened

This is Caroline's private balcony that faces the Main Staircase of the hotel - she used to hide behind the drapes and spy on all the women coming down the stairs for dinner to see what they were wearing so that she could be sure that SHE was wearing something that would outdo them all...

This is the ceiling moldings in Caroline's private dining room which is adjacent to the Main Dining Room. Select VIP guests would be invited to have dinner with her away from the "Rif-raf"

These were the hand-carved colums in the Conservatory - all the flowers were carved from the same piece of wood as the column itself...

This was the view from our room - I didn't take any pictures of our room itself - the reason being that I was somewhat horrified that I had paid a LOT of money (over $350 a night) for "Superior" accomodations and we got a 12 x 12 room with a 6 x 3 bathroom, no fireplace, no nothing else. But it IS an old hotel. But, on the flip side - the Hotel operates on the Modified American Plan, which means Breakfast and Dinner are included in the price of the hotel room, so if you add that in, it's really not AS steep as it seems. And the food was awesome. Unbelievable breakfast buffet. And you get the "white-glove" treatment. And they have a spa. I got a massage while I was there, which was also awesome. They sent us a split of champagne (which since I don't drink, Techno-Hubby was quite happy to drink for both of us) and humongous strawberries dipped in white and dark chocolate, which were DELISH. We thoroughly enjoyed the Grand Dame...

Wow!! It's absolutely fabulous!! I'd love the white glove treatment!! Especially when it includes a massage and chocolate covered strawberries, YUM!!! I love the gorgeous woodwork, that's one of my favorite things about old houses! There's a house in Swansea, that I can't divulge the location of, but it has all handcarved woodwork like that, and has always been lovingly taken care of! It's the place that a lady ghost dressed in a sapphire dress showed herself to me!! I wonder to this day if it was the way I was feeling about the woodwork and the whole house that made her want to appear for me!! I think she knew how much I admired her home!
Well, now I know where I want to go for a weekend getaway! Once I've found my rich, good looking man, that is, LOLOL!!! It just looks sooo romantic!! I bet you guys will remember your time there for all your lives!! Thanks for sharing, I absolutely love the place, I hope someday I get to see it in person!
