I originally posted this on the wvghosts.com website but thought I'd share it here too. I have also had some experiences before moving to WV back in Ontario, Canada where I'm originally from... that, as they say, is another story though.

I moved to Morgantown with my girlfriend about six years ago. We have seen some strange things locally in the places that we've lived and visited.
Our first apartment was on University Avenue, up by Grand Central Station. The house looked to be probably from the 60s or 70s, and we rented the top floor apartment, which was an attic efficiency, and we lived there for two years. After about a month of living in the University Ave. apartment, we both began seeing this small shadowy creature hop down the three stairs from the living room area to the kitchen. It sort of moved like a ferret, and always disappeared once it got down the stairs. I'm not sure what it was, even now. All I know is that it stopped appearing once we got a cat the beginning of the second year we lived there.
We moved out of the University Ave. apt. because the landlord was selling the building; we moved to the South Park area. There are a lot of stories of different tragedies that have happened in my neighbourhood.
In one of the apartments on this block, rented by one of my co-workers, the rumor was that the young male tenant lured a homeless man to the apartment and killed him. Then, he dragged the body down the stairs, through the yard and down to Decker's creek where the body was found. This story was told to my co-worker by the superintendent showing the apartment as "well, it happened over four years ago, so we technically don't have to tell you this, but..." anecdote. One of my other co-workers has lived in this area all her life, and I mentioned the story. She corrected it by saying, "Well, they said it was a homeless man, but actually it was the guy's lover. The guy had a real problem with himself being gay, and he beat up on his boyfriend all the time. This time he killed him." Apparently the troubled young man was pretty deep into heroin, and money was also a factor in the murder.
The apartment that we rented had a sad story as well, and while I cannot vouch for any supernatural activity in the other apartment, I know that our place had a definite negative area. The young man who was the tenant about five years before we moved in had been in Iraq. when he came home, his girlfriend broke up with him, and in that same day, he found out he was going to be sent back to Iraq. He shot himself in the head. The woman who lived downstairs was home when this happened. She was a co-worker of my girlfriend's and had lived in the downstairs apartment for eight years. She described never hearing the gun shot, but hearing the thump of the body, and how the police came to her door asking if she'd heard anything. Since her late husband was a policeman, she was always puzzled that she never heard the gun shot since she was used to hearing her husband practicing shooting at the range. Anyways, we never knew where the young fellow killed himself, but we had our suspicions that it was either in the bathroom, or in the spare room. Those two rooms were always creepy and had the 'you're being watched' feeling. When the door to the spare room was closed it wasn't as bad, but sometimes going to the bathroom or showering at night was nerve-wracking. We never saw anything, but sometimes when I'd get home from working the night shift and shower, I could swear that there was something waiting on the other side of the shower curtain for me.
This area where the apartments are (and the current place we're living now) is a group of old houses built in the 1800s that have been converted to apartments. There is an urban legend that the covered well in the yard is the site of the original owner's wife's death. Apparently she fell down the well and died and that there is an apparition of a lady in a white dress. Although I have seen something like that in the yard, I'm not sure that the story of this spirit's origin is true. I did see a flash of a woman wearing a high collared white dress, and she looked to be in her early to mid 30s, her hair in a bun. Also, looking out the window of my current apartment, I saw a glimpse of a blonde haired boy looking in my living room window. He looked to be about 8 or 9, and his hair was so blonde it was almost white. The previous tenant said that she saw a man walking a dog in the bathroom, which is in the basement (strange layout, I know, but that is what you get when you chop up Victorian homes into apartments).
Also, one night when we were driving down Dorsey Ave. past the grave yard, I saw a big spectral black horse galloping down the middle of the road toward us, only to vanish ten feet or so in front of the car.
Anyways, that's it off the top of my head for Morgantown. Sorry I'm deliberately being vague about some locations, but I still live in the South Park area.
