I called into last nights show and told them my experience with the supernatural and was told to post it and pics of those involved for everyone else! So, here I go! This is Mac, my beagle! And this is Maddie, my Jack Russell mix. And this is me! I'm a goof! OK, I was awakened by the sound of my dogs growling one night. I have had Mac for 5 years and never once heard him growl or bark. Just howl! haha! I go to sleep with my tv on every night (as a result of many scary experiences like this) but I always switch it to the tv/video setting. One thing about my tv is that when you do that, turn it off, then turn it back on, its on regular cable tv, not the tv/video setting. So, I wake up and both of my dogs are huddled close to me growling at something I cannot see because my tv is now off. Its dark and the only thing I know is that they are facing and growling towards the two side by side closets in my room. So I am immediately awake and seriously freaked out! Now, just to let y'all know, at the time I was 22 years old and living at home with my family for the summer. So as I kept staring trying to make my eyes focus on the darkness that my dogs are growling at, my dogs started going crazy. Both barking and snapping at something I still cant see! I started screaming, about 3 or 4 min later both my parents and my brother are trying to get into my room but the door wouldn't budge. It was like that for about 10 very long seconds, and then they finally got it open. Ok, here is the even crazier part! As soon as they got the door open, my tv came on but back to the tv/video setting (which as I have told you when you turn the tv back on its always on regular cable), and both of my dogs just kind of laid down and went back to sleep. It was the strangest sight, it was like them waking up but backwards. My whole family saw my dogs go back to sleep. It took a second of them being asleep for them to wake back up from the commotion that was now my family in my room. That was exactly a year ago come June 7th and I started thinking about it again. I have had many of these types of experiences, even my mother who is a devote Christian and not a believer in the paranormal has said there is something strange about some of the things that happen around me. So I was wondering if anyone had any insight to help me out! Thanks! Ashleigh

Hi Ashleigh,
Interesting story :oand I can see why it would upset you. And Mac and Maddie are soooooooo cute! I have had things happen to me in the past that spooked me as well as my pets.
The first important thing you have to do is rule out other possibilities of why this event happened, before you label it a paranormal event. Although animals are extremely psychic and see/hear many things that humans don’t, my first question would be, were the dogs possibly dreaming? Well one dog maybe, but the two of them at the same time; maybe not.
Could you have been dreaming? Some dreams are so real that we think we are actually awake. Had you had any negative energy around you at the time, any personal problems maybe, that could have manifested itself to the point that it spooked the dogs? Or could there have been other negative energies in the house?
What are the other strange things (if you don’t mind sharing) that you said your mother commented about, that happen around you? That might give a clue as to what caused something like this to happen.
Has anything similar to this happened to you, or someone else in your family’s home, since? Do paranormal type things happen to you in just your family home or other places as well?
When all this was going on in your room, do you remember seeing or hearing anything unusual? Were there any odors or changes in temperature that you noticed in the room? Were you able to move at all when this was going on?
How have Mac and Maddie been since this happened? Has anything like this happened to them since?
Sorry for all the questions, but you really can’t make a determination about an event like that on just the story alone. It could have been so many things, and the first step to hopefully, finding out what all this was about, is to ask questions.
I hope that we can all help you find some answers. >^o.o^<

Whoa, that is a lot of questions! haha!
1. I always say that Mac is like Bruno from Cinderella when he sleeps! He is a very active dreamer, and I have never seen him in an upright alert position when he is dreaming. He does growl sometimes when he sleeps, but is in a laying down sleeping position. So thats how I knew it wasnt the usual dreaming on his part. Maddie is a quiet sleeper.
2. As for me dreaming, I know I wasnt. I am a light sleeper, but I also have very vivid dreams. I have had dreams that seemed so real, but there is always a part of my mind that knows that I am dreaming. I cant explain it, but I just knew. There was no transition from dream to awake when my parents came in the room. Plus, the fact that the door wouldnt budge. The period of time when they were just upright, alert, and growling was around 10 minutes. I just laid there staring becoming more and more awake, and trying to focus as hard as I could on that area of the room. Its usually lit be my tv being on, but it was pitch black in that corner. I just remember making sure I was awake and giving time for my eyes to adjust. As for the negative energy, yes. This happened on a Monday night/Tuesday morning and my boyfriend and I of 5 years who were engaged had just broken up the previoius Saturday. What does that mean? As for the dogs being spooked, it seemed less about being spooked and more about being on guard. If anyone walks into my room and they are on the bed with me, Maddie will growl in a protective way. It just seemed the same to me when it happened that night except Mac was participating. It was the first time I had seen him aggressive. And he is a hunting dog. Well, if either one of them were spooked, it would probably have been him! He is such a baby! haha! But maddie means buisness. She is very protective of me, wont even let anyone pick her up besides me.
3. As for the other things that have happened to me, there are too many to list. I have something unusual happen to me at least once a month. I am just starting to learn about all of this stuff, and just started researching the paranormal so I am not really sure what it all means. Just that everyone around me seems to agree that wierd things happen when Im there. Its not limited to just in my house, stuff can happen to me anywhere. A couple of things that wont take too long to explain is I dream things that eventually happen. And I dont mean vague dreams that can be intrepreted in many ways or explained off. If I tell a friend about a dream I had involving them, then they know now to take it seriously. But I dont just believe everything I hear and see about the paranormal. I am just trying to make sense of it all. I am finally trying to get answers about why these things happen to me. I come from a Christian family with 3 preachers and missionary work. My grandfather on my moms side was a preacher and missionary for the Church of Christ and they are all very conservative. My mom is the biggest skeptic and thinks all of this is, and these are her words exactly, "hocus pocus". She is a psychologist and a big believer in disorders in the brain as the cause of paranormal happenings. I cant tell you how many countless hours we wasted getting me tested for all kinds of things she thought had to do with the wierd things that happened to me. She has finally given up and admitted that its not something wrong with me, because I had never tested positive for any mental illness, but that there really was something at work here. It scares her. She told me when I was 5 she walked in my room while I was playing and talking to my dolls, that being pretty normal and all, but that my dolls were moving their mouths as if they were talking back to me. But she didnt hear them actually talking. Things like that.
4. They only happen to me as far as my family goes. I am adopted and I have never met my birthparents so they could very well be the same way. I just dont know. But as for my family, none of them have ever told me either way, so Im guessing Im the only one. I also havent witness anything paranormal happen to them.
5. I just saw darkness, I was trying to make my eyes focus on that area but couldnt see anything because of the way my room is lit. Or not lit! haha! I could only hear the noises my dogs were making. As for smells or tempurature, I didnt feel a change. My dad is a major penny pincher and lets the house get up to 82 degrees in the summer, which would obviously make you sweat! So Im used to being soooo hot. I wasnt hot, but not too cold either. But I remember it definetly being much cooler and, and I know this is a poor choice in words, but stuffier. Like I was in a fog, or sauna but a cold sauna. Kinda made me cough when I would inhale. My parents felt it too and were the ones that actually pointed it out to me. My room is the hottest in the house, always warmer than everywhere else, but my dad commented on how much cooler my room was. He was so freaked out, he wouldnt let me sleep in my room for the rest of the month, and even offered to keep it cooler at night for me! He was so sweet, it was funny! And I was able to move, in fact I specifically touched my face to make sure I was awake. I have heard of sleep paralysis, my boyfriend has experianced that a few times. But that wasnt the case for me.
Mac and Maddie are fine! There was no real change in them that I can see. Maddies health has decline some during the past year, but she is 11 years old so it could just be old age.
Thanks so much for posting! I hope all of this helps! I can answer more questions if it will help you better understand what happened!

Hi Ashleigh,
Thanks for being so open and answering all the questions. I didn’t want to come across sounding like I was snooping, but the only way to figure out paranormal stuff is to ask a lot of questions. I like what you said about not believing everything you hear about the paranormal. Being skeptical is a very good thing! A skeptical believer will always try to find logical answers first for what seems to be illogical circumstances.
Keep in mind that everything I say here is just my opinion. There is no expertise in the paranormal, but I would like to think that with what I have read, personally experienced, and what I have learned as being a ghost hunter might help give you some possible answers.
I hear where your mother is coming from. I am a Social Work major with a minor in psychology, and have had my share of disorder related classes over the years. I’m clairaudient; I hear voices; and I also see spirits. I have had these gifts since I was a child, so to me it’s normal. These are things I would never EVER tell any kind of psych-doctor. They would have me drugged up in the blink of an eye! And I also understand what you mean about knowing whether you are dreaming or not. I can pretty much tell a dream from an out of body experience – like you said it’s hard to explain; it’s just different. And if you have experienced such a thing then you understand it.
It sounds like you are able to have prophetic dreams - being able to foresee the future in dreams. I have that happen to me every now and again and it always freaks me out. That is something that I accept as a gift but am not comfortable with. I always wonder why I can’t dream about a million-dollar winning lottery number – LOL.
Oh, so sorry to hear about the break-up, that’s rough. Sometimes when we have a lot of fear, anger, or negative energies within us, it can actually manifest itself to where it can be felt by others. For instance, have you ever walked into someone’s house or some other area and just not felt right? You get a sense of dread or feel wicked uncomfortable? The air might feel heavy or strange around you or you feel drained? Ever notice how animals will sometimes go near a person they have never met, and for no reason that you can see just look at that person and growl or cower and run away from them? That would be the feel of some kind of negative energy that gives you the heebie-jeebies. Well, you could have been generating a lot bad feelings (understandable after the breakup) without even realizing it, and maybe even projecting them across the room. Mac and Maddie might have picked up on the unusual surge of funky energy and reacted, in a protective way. Like I said before, animals are very psychic.
As far as your bedroom door not opening, you mentioned that the room was hot and sauna-like. Well the wood might have swollen making it hard for the door to be open. And the television clicking on by itself…….maybe the jarring from the door being forced open somehow made the switch turn on. Don’t know what to say about the station that came on thought; could have just been a fluke. The air temperature difference in your room might have happened after the door was opened; an exchange of air from the rest of the house to your room.
Well, those are some logical ways to look at everything that happened. Now, on the paranormal side, your strong, negative emotional state may have attracted a Shadow creature. They feed off all kinds of negative energies and enjoy putting a scare into people. The more fear the bigger their banquet! Any kind of apparition would have attracted Mac and Maddie’s attention causing them to react the way they did. An entity in the room may have caused the door to jam, the television to turn on (electrical stuff can go wacky when something is present), and even change the temperature in your room.
I think I covered all the bases here. Hope that some of this helps you to sort things out. Any comments/questions about what I posted, please let me know. Give the puppies a woof for me. ;D
By the way I love the Carlton Banks clip that you have showing in your posts - LOL! >^o.o^<

The room was unusually cooler, not warmer. It reminded me of a cold, wet basement feeling. Just thought I would clear that up. And the tv was on when I went to sleep, off when I woke up, and turned back on when it all stopped. And, I am having my boyfriend draw a rough sketch of the layout of my room so that you can better tell where everything was placed. The tv could not have been turned on by the door being opened because it was on the other side of the room. You will get a better picture in your head when you see the layout. I realize its hard to imagine when you havent seen my room! haha! Give me a sec and Ill post the sketch! Let me know what you think when you see it! Thanks for the help!

Thanks. Well, as far as the condition (temp, etc.) of the room, did you have your window opened? A breeze might have come in, or air pulled in from the outside when the door was opened. Also, had the shower been on at all? That would have added moister to the air, giving a muggy or damp feel to the room. With looking at the set up of the room, I wonder if Mac and Maddie might have been spooked by something that reflected from the window behind you, onto the wall; some kind of light source from outside maybe? I know, questions, questions, questions! - we just have to rule out all the possibilities. >^o.o^<

I live in Texas, so I cannot sleep with my window open. It would get sooo hot during the summer with my window open. I had not taken a shower either. And my blinds are always shut so there wouldnt have been a reflection. Thanks for taking the time to help me out!

Lildeb, you're awesome! You asked a bunch of great questions, and saved me from typing my little fingers off! Sounds like you may have a problem I call ghost magnetism, LOL! I actually would like to try to find a bunch of ghost magnets and find out exactly what it is that makes these people attractive to spirits. I know that since I was a child I had dreams that came true. I'm not sure if I could see or hear spirits when I was small, I don't remember much of my childhood and I was terribly traumatized by a negative energy feeder for over 22 years. I used to have a lot of fear and I am sure I may have blanked out any spirit contacts if I did indeed have any as a child. I know it was hard for me to admit I still had a few spirits kicking around even after I got rid of the energy feeder.
I think some key things would be to keep a journal of every time something strange happens to you. Look carefully for the reasonable explanations before you label it paranormal. Once you're left with things that can't be explained, well, that's when they're paranormal. It is very confusing to have strange things happen around you all the time. But don't worry, you're not alone. Read as much as you can, keep a skeptical eye out on things. Keep us posted! If you ever need any help, there's plenty of people here to help! And lildeb is awesome!! I'm sure Matt and Tim will be happy to help you out if you ever think you need it!! This is a great way to keep track of your activity and get help and other opinions. Every time something strange happens, go ahead and post it. Either we'll help you find a reasonable explantion, and if not, rule it as paranormal in nature. It's always good to have a helping hand! Good luck!! Don't be scared, many of us have also experienced the paranormal, so it's good to talk to someone who's been there! It also helps the paranormal community in general, we can find more answers if we share evidence and discuss things openly! That is my ultimate goal, that people who have paranormal experiences to be able to go somewhere for help! I don't ever want to hear about some poor little girl or boy with nowhere to turn because they can't share their experiences. Someday, this will be an accepted science, until then, we all need to share and work together to bring it there!! So don't worry, this is a rockin' place, there's always an ear to listen and a friend to help!!!

Hmmmm, well then maybe you did have something there ashleigh. But still hard to say for sure. I hope that something that I said helped you out, even a little bit. wish I could have helped you more.
Keeping a journal is a good idea. I have been doing that for years; time, day, date, weather conditions (if I rememeber) and what happened. Always good to write stuff down as soon as you can, before you forget anything.
And thanks, aneaglesangel. After a while, I just get used to asking those kinds of questions. >^o.o^<

That's why I put them up. After I read your story, I noticed many similarities. I'm actually very interested in learning why some people are so attractive to spirits and others are not!! I also found that some people were worried about my safety, so I figured I'd better post so noone would worry anymore! I really do hope that someday, we all know what it is that spirits like about some people. I hope that people who have these problems can feel confident enough to get help. Noone should live in fear the way I did!! Definitely keep us posted! I think help and support are very important in order to defeat these things!!

From what I have learned, it would be spirits being attracted to the living, not the other way around. Spirits are attracted to people who are sensatives. If someone does not have the ablities to sense them, why would spirits even want to try.
Yeah the stories do have some similarities. But be careful comparing your stories to someone elses. There can be so many variables. Although there may be some similarities that does not mean that the same thing was the root cause. >^o.o^<

Aneaglesangel wrote that she wondered why some people were ATTRACTIVE, not ATTRACTED. I made that mistake the first time I read it too, and was thinking the same thing at you, lildebcc! I was thinking,"Isnt it the other way around?" but then read it again. Just thought I would help clear that up! And I agree with the not comparing my experiances with others too much. If you do that too much, you lose the uniqueness of your own story by trying to make it fit with their story!
Just a thought, are negative energy feeders at all similar to the experiances I have heard about where someone wakes up paralyzed and can feel a presence in the room? Like, they physically cannot move, and see shadows and whatnot? And if so, how can you tell if what you are feeling while paralyzed is just fear induced hallucinations and your imagination or actually something paranormal?
|
|
|
Post by aneaglesangel on Jun 7, 2006 16:12:47 GMT -5
If you ARE paralyzed, it could be sleep seizures. I did alot of reading on them back in the day, I wanted to make sure that I ruled things out before I decided. This thing was too intelligent, it messed with your mind, your dreams and it knew how much I hated that it bothered my boys! A big part of the reason I posted, was so that anyone who worried for my safety, hopefully, would be satisfied that I am careful, and well, I think I'm pretty well protected.
Now what is going on with you, could be a number of things, so in my eyes, the biggest similarity I consider right now, is that you may be attractive to spirits. And you are right, if I typed it wrong, I definitely mean spirits attracted to people. I believe they do know who's sensitive and who can sense them. I know I am, sometimes when I go to a place, I can feel it, I just KNOW it haunted. I spent most of my life closing myself off to them, so now that I've opened up, I've had a few experiences to reward me for it. I want to continue to do this, maybe I'll be able to recover what I've lost, maybe I won't, but I can at least do what I'm capable of. I do like helping people, so if I'm never able to communicate successfully, at least I can help the living. I also think by sharing my story, others will feel more comfortable about sharing their experiences. No, we're not all crazy, and people should be able to get help with this if they need it. If you had a person harrassing you, wouldn't the law step in? Protect you? Well, even if a spirit isn't harrassing you, and it's benign or even friendly, it can be quite scary to deal with! Aren't people in that situation just as eligible for help as someone dealing with a living person?? I think so!
I want to see more places like this, where people can go and feel comfortable about getting help. Whether it turns out to be an actual spirit, or faulty plumbing, people should get the same respect as if they were calling a plumber to fix a leaky pipe! If we work together, share our experiences, help each other with diagnosing a haunting, we bring us all that much closer to being accepted by the world. I for one, would like to see that happen!! The thought of even one child, alone, keeping it secret, like I did, is one too many for me!!!
The best way to diagnose these problems is to start with the reasonable explanations first, keeping good records, trying to gather photo/audio evidence. Those are the things we can do, or help each other to do. So don't feel like you're ever alone with this, you've got all of us behind ya!! If we stick together, we gain the experience of all the others and we become a force. Not only to get to the bottom of things, but to show the world that there is something to consider here, something real!! Sorry with all my blathering, but this all means alot to me. I want everyone to be able to share and get help!! So please, do keep us posted! I'd love to help ya along the way!! It's always so much better when you've got more than one, that way, you never stand alone!!
