Hi Folks
I just was wondering something... Those of you who have caught EVP's, have you ever had a situation where the EVP was in a different language and you had to try translate it?
Jim.

I'm just starting to do evp's, just got my first dvr all the way from Michigan. I do listen to alot of evp's though, LOL! I did hear a Portuguese evp that Mike from NEP had posted on Spirit Society! I thought it was sort of cute, it just had to be a local ghost LOL! Lots of Portuguese speaking people around here, LOL!!

EVPs are funny. If you get one that you really can't understand, it's easy to put words to it and assume what is being said. If before you play an EVP, you tell everyone what you think it says, everyone will hear that and agree. If you just let people listen to random EVPs and not tell them what is believed to be said, and just have people write down what they think they hear, you will get lots of different answers. Unless an EVP is crystal clear, it's hard to say, sometimes, if what you hear is actually English or not.
I have yet to hear a EVP in another language, but I am sure they are out there. Why wouldn't they be? >^o.o^<

CAIPRS has caught quite a few EVPs and, so far, they are all in English. >^o.o^<

Oh lildeb, I think it's still on spirit society. Look in evp's for the portuguese evp made my NEP Mike. I won't tell you what it says, but it is a portuguese word that even I know, LOL! (Oh, and it's not one of the dirty words I know in Portuguese either, LOL) The other one I heard in another language gives me chills even thinking of it. A friend of mine from Georgia caught it. It's definitely a Native American voice, it gave me chills to hear him say, "Cahoota!" Very strong voice, I wonder to this day, if it's his name!!! She DID ask if anyone was there, but would a Native American understand English???

Well, I guess that would depend on when that particular Native American was alive. After the Europeans came here, the Native people started to learn English. So maybe he did. >^o.o^<

It's funny, that particular person gets some really good evp's quite often! I refer to her as a ghost magnet, just like a few people I've come in contact with, and well, myself, LOL! I can't wait to fire up my new dvr that a friend sent to me, LOL! I'm a one woman ghost hunting machine, now!!!
Got to get me some triple a rechargeables! Dollar store didn't have any yesterday!!

Best have at least one side-kick when you start up that one woman ghost hunting machine!
It's always good to have someone else with you, never know what can happen. And if you do have some kind of paranormal experience, it's nice to have one or more people there to corroborate your story. >^o.o^<

I limit what I do on my own, lildeb! I do not want to set a bad example for anyone. I'm seldom alone, but when I am alone, it's in someone's house who's not comfortable with having a whole bunch of people in their home. But then, they are there, so I'm not alone. I might walk in a cemetery during the day on my own. But then I'm only snapping pics! I want everyone to know the rules and number one is no hunting alone! That's why I'm so glad I have race car driver now! I'm not as limited now that I have a partner!! And it's always great to have someone to share views and talk about ideas with!! But no matter what, everyone should work on having at least one partner! Then when evidence is produced, you've got a witness to it!!
