I can tell you a way to have some crazy, vivid, life-like dreams and lots of them.
I have a Nintendo DS Lite (the portable game system by Nintendo) and I bought the Brain Age game for it. This game has you do a series of daily mental exercises to bring your "brain age" back down to a younger level. Well, I don't know if my brain is younger, but my dreams should do go crazy. I would do the exercises right before I went to bed. WOW! Every time I did this my dreams would be many and vivid. Really off the charts. It was really cool.
I've grown tired of the game, but I do remember how great my dreams were. If any one has a Nintendo DS (or DS Lite) you should pick up a copy of Brain Age and do all of the exercises before going to bed (I actually did them in bed and fell asleep right after) and let me know if you have a similar experience.

I've heard of the game, I hadn't heard of the dreams. Believe me, you don't want me having any more vivid dreams than I already have. Would be an interesting experiment though to see if others have the same experience after playing!

I have weird dreams when I fall asleep with the TV on. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of a dream only to see that my dream is exactly what is happening on TV and I am there. Same kind of thing I guess. That would be a difficult experiment to get accurate results from. Would have to look closely at the people who would use the system; look into learning and/or psychological problems, those who are depressed or suicidal. I would bet the farm that problems like that would give interesting results. Nothing that your everyday person would be able to do accurately. This Nintendo 'game' sounds more like a mind altering/control kind of thing though. I will stick with the occasional late night TV show while I sleep. >^o.o^<

LOL! If I ever see you on a late night talk show, I'll know you're dreaming again, heehee! I don't remember where I read it, but I did hear good things about the game, it's sort of like the brain teaser magazines I've seen, and used to looove as a kid! I think if I remember right, it came highly recommended for older folks who do tend to have memory problems as they age. I mean heck, I don't always trust 'big brother' either, but ya never know, might be a good thing for some, LOL!
It would be very hard to get results from a study like that, especially without a laboratory or equipment. Something involving dreams seems to me like it should an EEG running to scan what brain activity is occuring during the dreaming phases. I'm sure there aren't too many scientists out there willing to do such an elaborate experiment on dreams caused by nintendo, LOL! You know me, I'm just always one to ponder and wonder about things, heck, maybe I was Socrates in another life!!
I don't usually fall asleep with the tv on, but on the few occasions that I did (up late with a sick kid or sum'n) I do recall a few dreams where the tv influenced me to dream of what was on it, LOL! But since I watch a bit more action/adventure type stuff, LOL, I'm kicking butt in my dreams, LOLOL!!
(Oh, and of course, mme, my dreams come with a hot stud sidekick to help!)

I've watched movies before going to bed and have had dreams that incorporated some of the movie's themes.
As far as the game, I think it just fired up all kinds of activity in my brain that made it extremely active during REM states, having played it so close to bed time. Usually, a couple nights a week I'll have dreams that I remember right upon waking up. But, every time I played that game before going to bed I would remember all kinds of dreams upon waking up. It was really a night/day difference.

Well, I know they say not to let your children play video games too close to bedtime. It fires them up and makes it more difficult for them to fall asleep, and I'm sure some of the games could make them have some pretty vivid nightmares, LOL! Even cute little pink Kirby has a huge mouth and can vacuum you up, LOL!!
Oooo! I just remembered a movie that set me off to dreaming! That was Braveheart!! It was a pretty intense movie, the scenery was awesome, and of course, Mel starred in it! So my dreams were over rolling hills of green, full of horrendous battles, but my reward was, well, Mel was MINE!!!
