I have a weird one and I don't know what to call it. Last night it happened to me again after about 10 years of no events. I remember being asleep and I was walking up white marble stairs in my dream. The weird part was I could feel the shift in altitude. Then I fell down the stairs and woke up I felt my whole body shudder and I froze I didn't even wanna move. My heart was pounding a million miles a second and I felt pins and needles across my whole body. When these feelings began to subside I then started to breathe again. So uh...what I want to know is what was that and where do I look to research? Also I love your show listen to the iPod every week you post a new show. Hoping you cover spontaneous human combustion soon it's kind of odd, even in the paranormal.

Hmm, I'm going to have to ask a few questions, for it's not really easy to discover the root of what's going on without a lot of information. How old are you? Do you have any health problems? Have you ever had a NDE (Near Death Experience) or OBE (Out of Body Experience)? You said "in 10 years of no events", what happened before?
There's many things that come to mind when you describe this. But more details, and anything that you think would be helpful would be a good start to getting to the bottom of all this! I look forward to hearing more, and don't worry, you're not the only one who does strange things in the night.....
Hugs! Welcome aboard! I look forward to getting to know you better!

I'm 27 and I don't know if it was an out of body experience Ive never faced death and never died i don't usually have any problems except for seasonal allergies and as for sleep my boyfriend requires a pillow between us because I guess I thrash in my sleep. Last time this happened I was actually by my self and I just know that each time it happened I always feel fear I'm deathly afraid of heights so I just know a feeling of dread like I'm plummeting to my death. No changes recently except I was very stressed the night this happened. I felt my body shake awake but I don't think the lovemuffin did as he remained sleeping. it was like I litterally hit ground after a fall. It was scary as all hell

Hmm, still a tough one. You could be suffering from sleep seizures or sleep paralysis. You could be astral traveling during sleep and the feeling you get is when you re-enter your body. Stress may have brought it on. There's always a possibility an entity could be invovled, but at this point, it's very hard to say. I do the astral thing a lot during my sleep. I don't always remember, though at times I do, but I've never gotten any type of feeling when I re-enter my body. I had no idea I was doing this and suspect I might have done it all my life.
I read somewhere that doing a sleep ritual at night helps us to sleep better. I haven't tried it, for I suffer from chronic pain, so I take what sleep I can get lately and am glad for it, LOL! But for some a relaxing ritual before bed can help. It can be anything that makes you feel good, such as a bath, or a cup of chamomile tea. A nice massage from your love. It could even be as simple as reading a book to help relax.
If the problem persists and causes you trouble, then maybe a sleep study would be a good thing. I have a friend who does them and it's fascinating to learn of all the health problems that start out as sleep troubles.
And don't feel bad about your partner having to sleep with a pillow! I've been known to cold cock a boyfriend or two in my sleep! Which makes me wonder if all restless sleepers have some sort of connection and if there is any common denominator that would help us to determine exactly what's going on for you!
At this point, I'd keep a journal and see if when it happens again, if there's any pattern. For instance, does it happen only when you're stressed, or extremely tired? It could even be as simple as what you had for dinner causing troubles, so in my eyes, it's best to keep track of what's going on. Later after a few events, a pattern might be easy to see. Or something that can be done about this to make you more comfortable at night, can be found!
If you think of anything that might be helpful, don't hesitate to write it down! I hope that this condition goes away and never troubles you, for it seems it bothers you a bit. Keep us posted and hugs!
