Last night's show discussed how some scientists had been dis-invited from a scientific event because they were involved with the paranormal! I was shocked and appalled by this! Funny, since the paranormal field has opened up so much, I forgot we were still living in the dark ages, where you could shun someone for their hobbies! Or for being a little different from what was accepted in the main stream!
If I heard right, these were physicists having a little get together convention. Seems to me like in physics the possibilities are endless, at least from what I've learned of some new cutting edge physics. For to me, string theory brings endless possibilities with it! I am not a physicist, I didn't go to school for it, but even so, my small understanding of things makes me believe that to have an open mind is one of the most important parts of any science. Do we know it all yet? Nope, in my eyes, we're not close, not even by a long shot!
The caller made some very good points, and I enjoyed what he had to say. Years ago, we thought the earth was flat, we thought we were the center of the universe. We've long since learned those things are not true. We may think we've moved on into the future and that we know so much, but we're fooling ourselves. If we close our minds off to possibilities, we'll never learn a thing!!
Maybe I'm not a real scientist, but at least I have an open mind. I also think it's up to the paranormal field to prove ourselves as a legitimate science. Maybe I don't have a degree in any science field, but I still use the scientific method when on investigation. I keep my mind open to possibilities and use what we know of science to help explain things. But I also understand that we pitiful humans don't know it all and at times I have to grasp at possibilities that suggest just that! We don't know it all!
This is what I have to say to those people who so easily said that people who investigate the paranormal are not people they think belong at their convention: Remain close minded and you will never learn a thing! Remain convinced that you know it all, for life will only prove you wrong. And if you think you're so high and mighty, then you come into the field and you prove US wrong!! Keep pushing others out because they don't conform to your ways of thinking! Yes, you keep doing that! And while you're at it, bring us back to the dark ages where anyone with a new way of thinking would be beheaded!!
For by being prejudiced in these ways, you do nothing for the field of science except close it off to the endless possibilities. For I'm sorry, but you don't know it all, and in my eyes, it's only time and effort to prove that you have no clue! So yeah, you go on and live in your boxes people! The rest of us, we're going to move on into the future of paranormal investigation. And I'm sorry, but there's no room at our conferences for small minded, prejudices people such as yourselves!
Oh, and those scientists who are into the paranormal? You guys come on over here, we've got spots for you, and we're always willing to discuss science and all the possibilities that come with learning!
Sorry, off my soapbox now. Just couldn't help myself, people like that, well, they just burn my butt!
