...my school is a museum!! I thought I'd break this new bad larry in and post some 'non-paranormal' pics and get this partay started!! Hope you like! The Long Plain Museum School, located on Main St. in Acushnet. It's open to the public during the summer months! Check in, the sweet ladies who work there are very nice, and will chat about history with you! It was built in 1871 and was used as a school until 1971. I was lucky (or unfortunate, LOL) enough to attend the school in its last year. I still have the pendant they gave us on the last day of school! I'll have to go back, for inside one of the classrooms is still set up as a classroom. There are dummies set up as students and a teacher in the desks. There is even one poor dummy in the corner with the dunce cap on their head. And that's why you see I put unfortunate up there in parentheses, as you can guess, yes, I spent many a time in the corner with that very same dunce cap sitting on my head!!

There's alot of Mexican type buildings in California aren't there? I bet if you ever visit you'd love some of the great houses we've got right here in New Bedford. I've got some nice pics of some gorgeous old beauties I'm sure you'd love! I'll see if I can get a chance to post a few of them for you!! I'm glad you liked this, I love grabbing shots of the old places. Too bad it was cold when I took this one. Next time I go, I'll get out, and I'd like to see if they'll let me take pics inside. I know you guys would love that!!

They are open during the summer only, so I'd better hurry and get out there! The ladies are so very nice, I promised them I'd bring my first grade picture taken that last year it was open to add to the wall, LOL! Wait until they see it, I'm pouting, LOLOL!!! But I will see if they'll let me take pictures inside the building for you guys!! Maybe they'll even give me a good story or two to share with ya!!

Here are some photos frome our family outing to Black Dimand Mines Fat ghost oh thats me sorry my bad Sarah Norton "The White Witch" Antioch - Black Diamond Mines - Somersville - Sarah Norton - Sarah Norton was a midwife who died on the way to deliver a baby when her carriage over turned and killed her. Sarah was not a religious woman and told her kids that she did not want a funeral. So when she died the town s people of Somersville wanted to give her a funeral. The first time they went to give her a funeral a fierce storm struck up and cause the towns people to delay the funeral till the next day, the next time they tried to give her a funeral another storm came out of no where and the live stock started charging thru town, at that point the towns people stopped trying to give her a funeral and just brought her to Rosehill Cemetery, From that day her sprit has been seen around Somersville and the other locations where the mining towns use to be know as The Black Diamond Mines in eastern Contra Costa County and other locations off of marsh creek rd. Her ghost has been known to be called the White Witch. (http://theshadowlands.net/places/california1.htm) In the Black dress She Is # six On the list Now the Hunt is on I found it

That was very interesting karl, thanks for posting the pictures. I liked the story about Sarah Norton; always good to an account of a person's life with an old stone. Do you know if she was really Wiccan, or is that just a name that the town's people made up for her because of what happened each time they tried to perform a funeral service for her?

Executed as a Witch? I doubt that, if people tried to have a funeral for her and she was buried in a Christian cemetry. Was just wondering why the name "white Witch" was given to her. If no one can find out, no biggie. >^o.o^<

well as far as local legend the wight witch is Sarah Norton this marry person was a teacher at the old School in Somersville (Now Antioch) Half Her Class Died they said she poisoned her class but the twist is the school she taught at (long gone now) Was only something like 100 yards from the spot Sarah died. so the ghost of one of them is seen in the spot of the old school but Every one who sees "the White Witch" Says that it look like Sarah. i have never seen the white witch but i had a friend in the park service and he (a very repetal source) said he had some very weird happenings there (Black diamond Minds) So any groups in ca wanna do a investigation lets go!!! As far as i Could Find out The White Witch was bestowed in the 1960'ssom kids named her that and it stuck

Oooh, they are two different women! I figured there was just some confusion since rumors and stories usually grow as they are re-told. So there was a Mary, and there were a bunch of children who died. But did they execute this "Mary" as a witch? I can't see them doing it that late, just like everyone made fun of the people who thought there was a vampire attacking a family here in Rhode Island. I'd say by the 1860's things like that were unheard of! Funny how stories get mixed up, eh?? That's one of the Spirit Society's goals, to bring the truth about hauntings out! We're working on a searchable database of REAL hauntings, with real research, etc. We're all working on our own areas and all, but I have noticed that these types of stories sure can get mixed up and exaggerated!!
