It was much warmer last night than the first time we were out there for the Spooky Crew! The bugs were alive and well, too! Good thing for bug spray and our friend the bat who was eating them as fast as he could! There must have been a million deer in the woods and I wish I had a picture of our faces when we were first entering the woods, for we scared one. We almost wet ourselves, for at first, we thought it was a human smashing through the woods, well, until we heard it snorting. Then it crashed into the swampy area and continued to snort and we knew it was a deer for sure! Once on top of the rock, the deer got used to us and they stomped around (you'd think as prey animals, they'd be a bit quieter, LOL) and we could even hear them munching and chewing, LOL!
It will take us a bit of time to go over the evidence. We took digital pictures, ran the video camera and had three digital recorders running. I thought I would share a few strange circumstances of the night for now. Upon reaching the top of the rock, we set up equipment, and I took my camera out of my little "fanny pack" that I carry it in. As soon as I took my camera out I felt as if the strap of the pack had been pulled. I thought at first that it was my movements, though I'd never felt that before. I wriggled and moved a bit to see if it would do it again, but could not get it to do the same thing. I passed it off...until it happened again. Then I wondered if they liked the little case and thought it would be handy for carrying tools, ya know, spare arrow heads and flint tools and such. I made mention of this out loud, and even mentioned that I'd like to see if I could find another like it and bring it back and leave it as a gift for them. Maybe that satisfied them. It happened twice, that tugging, then did not happen again. I made an offering of tobacco and tried to honor the spirits. I was wearing a turkey feather in my hair, which was a traditional piece of adornment for the Wampanoags.
I started snapping off pictures, though I didn't know what I'd see other than leaves. The foliage has taken over the rock and there was much less room to work in than in the wintertime. I had only taken about 4-6 shots with the camera, with fresh batteries in it mind you, when it started blinking and telling me to change the batteries. I did, thinking to myself that I usually get much more run time than that out of a fresh set of batteries. Thinking I wanted to conserve battery power I put the camera away for a bit and decided I'd take a few more in a little while.
I was using some Wampanoag words that I'm familiar with, though I do not have a strong command of the language. I only know a few words. I did use keetompoag this time and said that I was honored that they considered us friends. As I stood on the rock thinking of things to say and ask, I felt something on the top left side of my head touching me. I asked Gabby if there was a tree branch over my head, and when the feeling stopped, looked for myself. I already knew we were standing in one of the only clear spots, but had to check anyway. There was no tree branch up there and can only wonder who it was who touched my hair. Once again I began taking pictures, and suddenly my camera shut down, with the lens hanging out. I was surprised at this and wondered if it was battery drain or if my batteries have just had it. I decided I would buy new digital batteries (I'm picky about what I put into my camera) and see what happens next time I'm on investigation with them.
But then at the end of the night, I noticed something that I thought was a bit odd. I had set up my Sony recorder as a stationary recorder, which meant that it sat on the rock and no one touched it all night, except when I stopped it to begin another recording. Gabby had the spare RCA that Robb forgot at my house and I keep forgetting to send back, but came in handy last night, muwahahaha! I carried the other RCA, or the magic EVP machine, which always gets clear evp's even if it has a little interference, which I think acts sort of like white noise. Now you have to know, before I left the house, all three recorders got new batteries for the investigation. Gabby watched me put them in. Both the Sony and the RCA that Gabby held had full batteries, which they should have, a new set of batteries will last for hours, days even in some cases. The RCA that I was holding was just about battery drained. I made note of this to Gabby and she found this odd too. I wondered if it had something to do with me, since I was the one experiencing the battery drain. After thinking about that this morning, I wondered. I was the one wearing the feather, I was also saying the Wampanoag words, and as always, I was excited to be there making contact with the spirits there. Gabby was a bit off her game, and not feeling well, so I wonder if these things made a difference and caused them to pay a bit more attention to me. Gabby's video camera was still fully charged, also.
One other thing that I'm not sure of, but kept feeling and wished I'd mentioned to Gabby so she could watch for it, was that the feather in my hair, which I'd worn on the back of my head on my ponytail, to keep out of my way as I worked, kept feeling like it was flipping up in the air. There wasn't that much wind up on the rock, the trees were pretty still and it was quiet enough to hear the munching deer, yet that feather kept feeling as if it was flipping up, and I kept ignoring it. Well, until we were leaving, and then I was like, what is that? Then I wondered....had someone been playing with my feather all night and I hadn't realized it? I guess I'll never know, and I think if something similar happens again, I will take note of it, rather than passing it off.
So now, we'll have to wait and see and review the evidence. Unfortunately, I didn't get a lot for photographic data, but I will share the pictures of the trees, LOL. I have yet to put them on my computer, I'm a bit slow today, was up late last night chasing through the woods, LOL, but I should do that soon. The audio will take a bit longer and there was a lot of background noise as compared to the relative quiet of winter. When all is said and done I do hope that we will have something to share with you all. But at this point I am feeling as if the Wampanoag spirits did reach out and touch me.
