Wow, are you sure you poor fellas didn't call up Ann Coulter by mistake? Guys, I have to say I have an immense amount of respect for anyone who maintained polite discourse with a guest that nasty. Sad part is I actually dislike reality tv almost as much as she does, but such petulance does not make a convincing argument.

Yeah - you guys did great! You got some really good jabs in, too!! She's just pissed because she couldn't adapt with the changes in the television industry. The "studio style" of television production is a thing of the past - get used to it lady! ;D
EDIT...... Wow! I just found this quote on her MySpace page.........
"Making a fool of yourself on television for 15 minutes of fame is insane! Also, think of all the jobs that are being lost due to this awful programming! I had to leave the industry because I could not make the living I was a custom too! They are sending the decent work out of the country and producing reality TV here, which has no place for me or many of my other friends in the business!"

Hello, I'm very keen to hear what all the fuss was about but the download at the blogsite - www.spookysouthcoast.blogspot.com (where shows are uploaded regularly by a kindly listener) doesn't appear to work, for me at least - anyone any ideas..? As I say, I'm itching to hear what happened..! All the best, David. :-)

The link's and feeds are up , fixed and working now. Sorry for the delay everyone. I warned everyone to take your blood pressure meds first before tuning in. And BTW I am on the conservative side and I didn't like her either. just to give you a taste (paraphrasing here) I believe, I just don't believe it when they are on camera. They don't like that." so in essence if you get any evidence it's fake. Oh and give her a job please. It's hard to debate when it's only one view. However I guess that is what debate is about. Put your point of view out and let the listeners decide. I think it was the such narrow mindedness that threw me. Give it a listen yourself. spookysouthcoast.blogspot.com/Give me a break

hehe not often we see such one-sidedness from a guest. she did not get what the boys where trying to explain at all - and only because it didn't matter to her. but they did a good job of trying to keep it light.

Wow!! All I can say at this point, is that it's probably a good thing I didn't get to listen live to this one! I would have had a lot to say about her opinion of paranormal investigators! I think we would have had a bit of an argument!
Paranormal investigators for the most part strive so hard to be credible and you can't judge all of them by the reality TV shows. I also can't help but wonder why a person is this offended over the shows. I can understand being a bit disgruntled over losing a livelihood that had carried me as a career for any amount of time but to be against everyone and all of them. Hmm, seems like someone needs to get a life. But to take it out on all of the investigators out in the real world who work very hard to do what we do and bring it forward in the best manner possible, well, in my eyes, that's a bit unfair.
Oh well, she can go get a life, I'll keep going out and doing what I do best!! Great job guys, as always, gotta raise my hat to you, you guys really did handle this well!!

Yea this lady was a joke. If you guys want some kind of skeptical view of ghostly reality shows, you should get a hold of Stephen or Logisti at skepticalviewer.com
Thx for the fun episodes keep them coming!!!

Well, that was a show..!
I was riveted from start to finish.
Speaking as someone who works in TV and radio I could sympathise with Lindsey Malone's sentiments about the loss of jobs and the seemingly attendant drop in quality but this has been ongoing for years now as money becomes tighter in the industry and there are more & more outlets for programming.
I'm not saying it's right but unfortunately it's the way it is now.
I think it was somewhat unfair of Lindsey to lay the blame fully at the door of reality television and particularly in this case paranormal reality TV - I'm not a huge fan of that type of show myself but what constitutes 'reality' encompasses such a huge range that it's almost impossible to label everything as bad.
As Jeff quite rightly said on the show last Saturday - if you don't like it, don't watch it. There are plenty of other very good quality shows out there and there really is something for everybody in today's multi-channel/Internet TV world.
Gentlemen - your grace under quite an unprecedented amount of pressure was deeply admirable - the arguments and counter-arguments were well dealt with and it made for highly entertaining radio.
Thank you. :-)

Yes exactly, we're so many, we can't all like the same things - you can't say that just because you don't like or approve of something, it's crap - which was exactly what this lady did - it was sad really. She seemed to be confident in what she said because "everyone" she knew agreed with her. But well that's the beauty of internet - cliques - an amazing way to find people who enjoy (or hate) the same things you do. It doesn't mean only the people she knows and visit her website are right That's a rather juvenile perception of things. and eaglesangel, oh gosh I wish you were listening live and could have called it would have been sweet I kid, I actually don't like arguments XD and was quite nervous while listening lol - but I listened through it coz... well I love the guys and they did a good job ;D

What I found to be off the wall was the point counter point which she did to herself ; her own comments mind you; sevral times. The other main point that came across is that she in doing her research to come on and talk with some intellegance- she did none. She stated herself and continued to state all through the show that I have watched the clips (meaning commericals). The woman has never watched a show of any type of what she was debating. Aslo she kept making the same comment that SSC had a TV show. And I don't believe she really knew.
If you are going to discuss something shouldn't you atleast be informed of what you are talking about. Bring up points and reference shows - there are those the paranormal community as a whole did not ike and are now gone. Do some research please.

LOL! I do a lot of debating, for I do have friends who do not believe in the paranormal, and I'm happy to say, I've got most of them converted. But then again, having tons of evidence at my fingertips can help even the most weathered skeptic to believe.
But one thing I have found when you have a person is already so biased and has made their mind made up, it's very difficult to sway them, no matter how good your argument is. But one point I would have liked to have made is this, she judges all paranormal investigators by what she has seen on these reality shows. We are not all TAPS, we do not all have shows (though I will admit, there is a new show coming soon that I am a part of, but I will tell you this, it is different, or at least I hope it is, from what we're used to seeing on TV for a paranormal show)and we are not all in this field for the same reasons. There are many very credible good people in this field. Just like the old proverbial call the kettle black, you can't call all investigators the same.
I do lots of cooperative investigations, and though I've met people who do use different methods than my team uses, I can see the qualities in all of them. Most of all it's the people. They really want to do this, they really want to gather evidence, and they really want to prove the existence of ghosts. Why? Do they get paid? No, they don't get paid, but I think in each of them, these is great satisfaction in gaining that one great picture, or that one Class A evp or to set that one scared client's mind at ease. Not all of them want to be famous, or on TV, for the most part these people who work so hard out there, just want to help people. To let them know they don't have to be afraid, and to let them know, no, they aren't going crazy.
So to those investigators out there, this means the world to them, and to judge them all as the same as what you see on TV, well, it's just not right. There's more to this field than the television audience, it's the people, living and dead who make this such a great field to be in!!
Give credit where credit is due, and all of the people involved here, who do this for free, work long hours in the middle of the night with little to show for it, well, they are the people who matter in this field, and they matter to me! Without all of us, the ones hidden behind the scenes that no one sees, there wouldn't be a field, and without us, there wouldn't be any "reality shows" in the first place!!

In the interest of full disclosure, I found Lindsey on the internet as someone against reality television, not necessarily as someone with a lot of experience regarding paranormal programming. And I did contact her the night before the show, so she did perhaps the best she could do in preparation with such short notice. However, when I contacted her, she did say she'd seen a number of those shows already. Still, we had a great time debating her, and we look forward to doing it again sometime, perhaps when she's had a chance to catch more paranormal shows. Glad everyone liked it!

wow, I need some of that patience and graciousness you guys have! What a tense show!!
i work with TV and Radio mediums, seeing Neilsen and Arbitron ratings... and wrtiers strike didn't seem to hurt some cable ratings I must say (mainly those much hated paranormal TV shows.) For those who care- Neilsen Ratings don't exist in all our major cities, we now use ratings dervied nightly which are not the same as ratings derived from old school Neilsen Diaries. I believe Lindsay is referringf to Neilsen rtgs derived from old school diaries . Lindsay- "Reality Shows are making America Stupid", so is 24 and House and FOX making America smart?
