Hey karl, New England is beautiful. Best time to come out is in the fall. Especially if you have never seen the changing of the leaves - just beautiful.
If you ever decide to make it down to Cape Cod, let me know ;)and I will be more than happy to give you a list of interesting places to visit. Some that are not on the 'basic tourist list'. Hey, us locals have to have a few secrets you know. ;D

I am trying to get into the building, but no they don't do tours. Right now the building is closed, they're not even using it for military purposes like they did in the past. It was almost auctioned off, but the sale was called off last minute for some reason. I can't find out why, hmmm! I'm tracking down the owners, it says the Commonwealth of Massachusetts owns it right now. Guess I'll have to wait and see!!

LOL! Karl, smack me would ya??
It's funny about this building though! Noone in the City Hall seems to know what happened with the auction and why it was suddenly taken off the market the way it was. I like to think that it had something to do with TAPS being there, and the whole haunted thing. What it probably comes down to is money, but I think it would be an awful shame to see it deteriorate like many other historic places around here! Take Fort Taber, for instance. Yes, they just made a very nice park out of it and all. But if locals think back, we used to be able to walk in that building, now it's crumbling so badly, they had to block it off and noone can enter it anymore. It's a shame, the building should never have been allowed to get so run-down in the first place! It is a historic fort after all!! With the fort building over in Fairhaven, at Fort Phoenix being burnt down at some time in the past, the Fort Taber building is the only building we have close by that was an actual running fort at one time! Tsk! Tsk!!
