Post stories and experiences in the Freetown State Forest here. I have been there only 3 times so far, but 2 of the times were a little weird. The first time I went, we tried to find Old Quarry with no luck. We went down a foot path since we knew we weren't going to find it and to make the trip worth while. About 10 minutes or so down the path we heard laughter. And so we stopped. The people I was with got spooked and decided to head back to the car (FYI, cars are NOT SUITABLE for driving down the dirt roads of the Freetown Forest. You can see evidence of this down Copaciut rd.)As we were walking back we heard the laughter again. There was nothing in site at all. And that ends that trip. The second time we went again searching for Old Quarry with no luck ws a bit different. We went down Upper Ledge Road off of Ledge Road which is located off of High Street. We get to water hole 22 and park because cars cannot go up the road much due to the large rocks in the middle of the road. According to the map we thought we saw a path that goes straight to the ledge, but no. I don't think a lot of the paths are that accurate when compared to the map, because a lot of the paths we saw were unnamed. So after about a half hour of walking with no quarry in sight we ended up on a path by RT 24 and it was getting dark out. We had no cell phone, food, proper clothing, anything really, just maps. We turned around and decided to go back and soon after realized were lost and doomed in a cursed forest for the night. We started to smell very foul things, silly me was thinking big foot was around knowing that foul smells accompany it. We found out in the morning it was the landfill. Now, this could have been our imaginations acting up or para-reality, but my partner noticed a third shadow walking with us. I didn't see this. There was an intense feeling of being watched and hunted. About ten minutes of terror later we found a path leading out to an industrial park, so we slept close by the woods and civilization. Something was among us but we disregarded it thinking it was just a possum or another woodland creature until a tree fell down. There are no bears in the woods, so that could not be possible. I don't know what that was. Anyways, this is my experience with the Freetown Forest.
