I have a mild story, but it still is interesting. A few months ago I moved into my fiance's mothers house. We purchased a house, but it needs work and things done to it before I want to live there(it was a great deal, so it is worth the wait ) so in the mean time we are at her mom's place. There is nothing that goes on that is "bad" or evil. It doesn't bother me, but it still can't be explained. The house was built in the 1930's and over the course of ownership there have been two deaths in the house. Both of natural causes and both very elderly women. The personal experence that I encounter frequently is one that involves a door bell that goes off. It sounds rather normal with the exception that there is NO DOOR BELL in this house! There was one, there is a box for it, but has no components in it. This "door bell" goes off at random times. It happens at the backdoor it seems, or the sounds come for that area. I can't explain it. I have triple checked that there is no lose wires connecting to an old bell to cause this. It just goes off though. There is no logic to that. It's just strange. I have not seen anything here nor do I have a feeling really of the paranomal here, but her mother's friend claims to have seen an old women in the kitchen a few years ago. Also once her mother was very sick and she felt a presence and a hand on her shoulder of support. I don't know if I really want to "see" anything because I never have and I don't know how I would handle it. I have felt "odd" at various places like Eastern State Penn and on a few trips to places that are known to have an active paranormal enviorment yet still have never "seen" anything. Anyways, that's my story so far. Again, great show.

Great story. Well, good to see that you did check the wires and everything in the house related to the doorbell. I am guessing that it is a single family home that your future mother-in-law lives in; so it's not like you would be hearing someone else's doorbell if it were a 2 family. Just wondering if you ever noticed anything else happen when the doorbell goes off?
That was a good story, thanks for sharing it. >^o.o^<

The house may not be haunted persay but sometimes people leave behind a strong impression of themselves in the houses they once lived in.

A Mr. Fixit ghost; just how cool is that!
Never thought of that one, maybe they do just want the doorbell fixed. >^o.o^<

Another part of this is this happens near the kitchen where the older lady was seen. The neighbor who passed away years ago too use to come to that door to visit her friend. Form what I understand they use to cook at lot together. The starnage thing is though I spent a lot of time in there because I enjoy cooking and I have never felt anything odd. Her mom even had an eletrician at the place before to look at it as well and confirmed what I saw that there is nothing there. At least nothing in terms of a wired door bell. I don't know about fixing or eplacing it because she has it that way because of her dogs. They bakr at everything so she doesn't want one for that reason. The odd thing is they don't seem to bark at this bell when it goes off yet any human can hear it. I guess that makes it even more strange.

Well, you could always set up a tape recorder and see if you capture the sound that way; might even get an EVP out of it too.
You should consider keeping a log paranormal type happens around the house to see if any patterns come up that coinside with the doorbell ringing. >^o.o^<

Took the words out of my mouth lildeb!! I was going to say, maybe get audio, since you're hearing the bell, maybe there's more to the bell than what you are hearing! Great advice and the journal can be very helpful if there's a pattern to the activity, logging it helps you to see it!! Good luck and keep us posted, very interesting!!

Cool, try setting up a tape recorder in the part of the house you hear the doorbell, and just leave it until it runs out. Better to do it when noone is at home. Good luck. Keep us posted.

I wanted to give this one a bump because there are some new things that I think are interesting to the topic. I’m still here because I’m the not the most handy guy and rebuilding the home I bought is taking longer then I would have thought. Oh well. LOL Anyways….
A few weeks ago my fiancé and her mom went out of town for a week leaving me at this place alone for a week. I didn’t really have any real odd experiences here with the exception of lights turning on at one point when I took the dog outside downstairs. Kind of odd but I did not “see” anything. When they got home her mother told me that 2 days prior before them leaving her mom was sitting outside while taking her dogs outside she was sitting on a chair outside facing the window and looked through and clearly saw the figure of an elderly woman walk past the window towards the kitchen area. She did not want to tell me she saw it prior to going to not “freak me out” knowing I was going to be there for a week along. It’s interesting because this is the second person since her mom has lived here. Her friend saw this lady in the kitchen 2 years ago.
Now since finding that out not too much has kicked up. We have taken down part of the old drywall and since then the “door bell” has been more active. A lot more. It’s odd because it seems to happen more when either right before someone is coming home or if the dogs fight. My dog who is an English bulldog attacks her moms pug on sight. I do my best to stop it but this dog must feel this pus is it’s mortal enemy and will run into a door to open it just to get at this dog. It’s odd because he sleep in the same bed as a cat and shows no other aggression towards anything living unless it has a reason. The other day I was at home alone on an off day and I was shaving in the bathroom. All of the sudden I heard that bell really loud, almost to the point it was in surround sound in the bathroom, and I walk towards the hallway and see/hear my dog attacking the pug. I pick him up right away and stop the fight. Now I would have not heard this if not for the door bell sound that this time sounded like it was to get my attention. It was really odd because of how it sounded, like in my ears, and that it was just confidently there to get my attention for stopping a fight in the house 4 rooms over.
Anyways being here is fine and I don’t at all feel uncomfortable here. I am however a bit frustrated that I have not “seen” anything here. I guess when you want to or expect to see things you don’t. I found out this house is MUCH older then I thought. I thought it was old, but was built in the 1930’s. It turns out this house goes back to the late 1800’s because the elderly neighbor told me that his family owned this house back then. So this house is over 100 years old. It has more then one spirit who comes to this house. Now nothing here is of anything but a genital soul. I don’t at all at any point, even walking thought a dark hallway at 3 am, feel like there is anything other then a good presence at this residence. I don’t understand though why nothing has shown it’s self to me. I am a late night person. I always take the dog out in the middle of the night. I’m up and in this house in the middle of the night but I have not seen anything. I’ve politely asked for something to show it’s presence here but nothing. Nothing though. I hope to have an experience here because I want to know that “question” and frankly this is a good place because anything the remains in this residence is not of any evil intent.
So things are still going on here but I haven’t seen anything with my own cognitive eyes. It’s an interesting house. I’ll bump this accordingly if further things go on here. I don’t know how much longer I’ll be here because I want to finish building up the home I bought but I hope something happens here where I really have a good understanding of the spirit world.

Hmm, is it possible to get a good understanding of the spirit world, without actually visiting it??? I think sometimes there isn't enough energy I think for activity to manifest itself. Maybe you just have to be at the right time at the right place?? I don't think there's much to do but wait and hope that sooner or later you catch it at the right time. For all you know it's not even aware, but just a residual, at least until you know otherwise, so maybe you have to have the right conditions for it to be able to re-play itself!?? Good luck, I hope you get to see something!!

Sounds pretty interesting. Do not get upset about not being able to "see" anything, not everyone can. Seems like you can sense things, and that is a great gift in and of itself.
I think it is all about being in the right place at the right time. Think of it this way... There is a pond near your house. You go fishing one day, in a pond that is known for having a good supply of fish, and come home with three fish. The next day your friend goes fishing in the same place, for six hours, and catches nothing. Does that mean that there are no fish in the pond? No, your friend was just not there at the right time. Kind of the same with sensing, hearing, or seeing something paranormal.
If it is going to happen it is going to happen, it is that simple.
By all means, keep a log of all the things that are happening in the house. Did you ever get around to doing the EVPs in the house, or set up video cameras? Sounds like you had a good chance to do that when you were alone in the house for a while.

Nah I didn't do any kind of EVP or videos. As odd as this sounds I would like to see something with my own eyes rather then hearing/seeing something recorded. I think it would freak me out if I was able to see it in that way but not able to see it in person. I think that would cause some mind games for me. I think once I'm not there anymore I would try that or if I do have a visual sighting. Right now I think if I did something like that I am too open to the idea something is living there and would cloud my judgement. I trust my eyes though because I've never seen something like that and I'm not prone to allowing my thoughts allow me to think I saw something.

Oh bummer. Without a lot of activity in the house, you just might have recorded something, A lot of times, you will get things on video or audio that you can not see or hear yourself. So recording can be a good thing, Some people never sense any kind of paranormal activity; not everyone is a sensative. But even those that are not sensatives will see/hear captures on tapes.
That is why EVPs are so important - the tape will pick up things that we do not hear with our ears, psychic or otherwise.
Why do you think it would cause mind games for you? If you were the only one doing the recordings, you would have no reason to doubt that any captures were real. These things can be so fleeting sometimes, that tape is the only way to get to see them.
I do not understand why seeing something paranormal on tape would cloud your judgement about them being valid, especially if you were the one operating the equipment and the only one in the house.
