On tonight's edition of "Spooky Southcoast," we'll discuss the ethics involved in reporting on the paranormal. Special guest Danielle Garrison of Crossroads Paranormal will discuss with us the survey she recently posted on her myspace (www.myspace.com/daniellegarrison) about ethics and paranormal talk radio. In addition, we'll be joined in-studio by guest host Christopher Balzano, the administrator of the Massachusetts Paranormal Crossroads website (www.masscrossroads.com). Chris will be sitting alongside Tim, Matt C., Science Advisor Matt M., and special guest skeptic Pat MacCurtain to offer his take on reporting on the paranormal. As always, we invite you to call in (508) 996-0500 or (508) 291-0500 and share your stories, thoughts, theories, questions, or experiences, no matter where you live, whether you can hear the show or not. Wow!!! Remind me never to call in on a cell phone again!! I called in, then got cut off and had some lady yelling at me on the line, LOL! Then every time I called back it cut off and buzzed my ear!! Is Keith's demon in the studio tonight, or something!! Hey guys, great show, I was listening on the road!
To finish what I started to say about ethics, I think writers of the paranormal have an even higher standard of ethics than any other writers!! It's our job to bring the truth and be a reliable source of information if we are ever to get this science off the ground!!
Keep rocking guys, awesome show, even on the road celebrating birthdays!!!

It was a great show, but I still think my answers were the best to her survey:
Answer to #1: Ethics? Journalists have Ethics? Now how the hell am I going to get laid?
Answer to #2: It's Paranormal Radio. Not the Meet the Press. They are lucky they have a bandwidth, a chip and a chair.
Answer to #3: If Paris Hilton is considered a music "artist" then Paranormal Radio should be up for the Nobel Peace prize for journalism.
Answers to #5: Hell-O! They deal with the dead and aliens. I don't think they will be getting that exclusive from the emperial leader of Vega Minor any time soon.
I think that since there is no science right now to back a thing up, I feel it's up for grabs on personal hypothysis and feelings on the subject. How can you be subjective on the spirit world? Feel free to explain that to me.

LOL! Journalists should have ethics, at least if they want to be truthful. I'm sure there's many out there who don't care and just want a good interesting story that people will read. That's how they make money. But here, we have something that is, no not a science yet, but that's what many hard working individuals, like our own Spooky Crew and others, work for every day.
I do believe you can be subjective in the spirit world. You have to view all sides, and try to take all information and evidence into consideration. There is so much more to things, and things that can't be seen and measured, so it's even more important for us to be able to be subjective. And work together to come up with approved methods and practices. That way we will have a science someday. It takes one day at a time, one person at a time.
On Spooky, I've heard times when the crew didn't necessarily agree with what was being presented, but they gave it a fair listen and did what they do best. I think they are great at sharing and presenting topics in a great and subjective manner. Maybe they dont' agree always, but like I say, they give it that shot, and they give it a thought. That's how they work together, and I think they follow ethics in the manner that they even broadcast the show.
But as long as we have great guys like this working so hard to share and spread the word, well, someday, I do believe that paranormal "science" will be accepted. That's why we're working together, that's what it's all for, and I hope when it happens, I'm still here to see it. But well, if not, ya never know, I might be flyin' around somewhere, LOL!!

LOL! But here, we have something that is, no not a science yet, but that's what many hard working individuals, like our own Spooky Crew and others, work for every day. You don't have to say those nice things about them. They dont' pay you that well. I understand what you are coming from but I think that since it's open to so much interpetation and superstition and religious dogma that you can't just take one point of journalistic view. You have to be open to all ideas and some of them are going to be kooky.

Well, what you're saying brings up many points. I think you have to hear all sides and decide for yourself, and yes, some ideas are pretty kooky!!! But as I've lived my life, I know that one thing that kept me out of the paranormal field, was I didn't want to be one of those "nuts"!! But now so many things have happened I can't deny anymore that I'm a 'sensitive' and that in itself is a big step for me. Sensitives have a bad reputation, especially since there are so many willing to make a buck on people's naivety. I've always thought that people who "saw spooks" were crazy as hatters. Well, maybe some of them are, but I have to admit, with all this happening, I went to an M.D., got checked out, went to a psych doc, got checked out, I know fully well that I am a well-adjusted person and have no mental illnesses. But the stuff kept happening, even if I tried to ignore it. I have to face it, or lose a part of myself. That doesn't mean that I can spread false ideas, or give out false information. When I write stories, I try to remember all the details and give the truth as well as I can, if I'm relating someone else's story, I try to make sure they are a credible witness. It's hard to relate the paranormal to people, for they all have so many views and ideas. I don't think anyone is right or wrong at this point, and I think you can smell one of those crazies a mile away!
But yes, I've had to come to terms with ideas I used to think were kooky, but hell, I experiment constantly, and I use myself and any willing subjects to participate. Yes, alot of them work, and every time it happens, I'm shocked!! But when and if I do relate the results, I try to be as truthful as possible. Now, if we could get everyone else out there in the world on the same page, this science could move forward, but it won't go anywhere without psy-ence, LOL!!
There are people out there who make up stories, or give wrong information. Either they are so desperate to get the science going they are willing to commit fraud to do it, and maybe some of them are crazy and believe it themselves. It is up to us to weed through this and help to erradicate this type of reporting. I do wish all reporters followed a code of ethics, but this is the kind of world we live in. Sometimes frauds get a lot of money and attention commiting these farces. Or maybe they are very lonely and need the attention. One thing I do know is that the reputable people in the field need to work together to get it going, despite all the problems, frauds, and crazies!!
Oh, and they don't pay me, I do this for free! It is my dream that someday, the things I've experienced will be explained, and I hope to see this move forward as a real recognized science/psyence! I dream of the day when this is all accepted and respected!! I hope to work together with all the wonderful people I've met online, and make my dream come true!!!
