Hi ladies and gent's, I just thought that I would pose a question to see if we could get some conversation going.
What drew you to the paranormal? What caused your interest.
Mer personally - I can't put my finger on it. I have always had an interest in the paranormal - in things that were beyond our world. When I was in elementary school, I would read all the ghost story, ufo, bigfoot, etc books that I could get my hands on. That continued into high school and college. One of the best papers I ever wrote in college was for a Myth and History class. It was on the Roswell crash.
I am from a small town. I have never lived in a haunted house. I haven't seen a ghost. I have felt things, but I wouldn't consider myself a sensitive. I did see a ufo once but that was well after I was interested in these types of things.
I am Christian and grew up in church, and I am still very active in church. I don't see where those two things have to be mutually exclusive. Religion and the paranormal... If anything, I would think that if you are open to believe in God, angels, Satan, and demons - then anything could be possible. The belief that we are the only creation in the universe especially escapes me. It seems a bit nieve.
Anyway... those are my few thoughts... Let me know what you think!

I think that people who are religious should also believe in the paranormal. I'm not all that religious as in organized religion but I have strong faith. I have reason to. I don't know why it is, but the paranormal has a certain allure for many. And I have to look at it this way. The word ghost is known to all languages. Ghosts have been with us even before written history. Even cavemen buried their dead and wanted to assuage the spirit so that it would pass on to the other side. So, all in all, I think that all religions should give a little more credit to the whole ghost side of things. I've had some religious people tell me that God doesn't allow people to become ghosts. But to me, that takes away the whole free will thing that God gave us, so I have to just shrug and hope that someday I can find evidence that conclusively proves ghosts. Until that day, I just plug along with my team and enjoy every moment that I spend with human spirits.
For me, I was dragged kicking and screaming into the field. I have a long history of paranormal activity, both ghosts, demonic or as I call them negative inhuman entities, and psychic experiences. It all started when I was about 8 years old and some thing began to attack me in the night. Before this, I'd had a past life memory, and some precognitive dreams that would come true eventually. The worst was when I saw the death of my father, before I turned 18. It did happen, even though I swore I would never tell a soul, and so, erase this from happening. I was 17. When I grew older and had live in boyfriends, two of them were attacked by this thing, later it attacked my children. Friends were nervous about coming to my house. One reported after sleeping over, that something whispered to her all night. She never slept over again, LOL!
Once others had been attacked, I began to research the paranormal as thoroughly as I could. After my children began being attacked, I decided that there had to be something I could do to protect them. I sought help, and also, I began a Native American program, to strengthen myself. It was called "Rainbow Medicine" by Wolf Moondance. It took about a year to complete. But the next time that thing came calling, stomping on my bed, leaving behind empty footprints, I was ready. I banished it that night, and it has never been back to visit me again.
I kept researching, many people contacted me when they had paranormal experiences, and I began to see many similarities. I also learned that the negative entity wasn't the only spirit activity I had going on. At this time, I have at least two spirits who have been attached to me, I think for my whole life. Maybe they are guides, maybe I knew them in a past life. I don't know as of yet. But they are my early warning system. When something of a negative persuasion is going to enter my life, my ghost friends go off. Things will get moved and I will hear my name whispered. Usually something negative happens after they warn me. I've become accustomed to heeding their warnings. They know much sooner than I do, even with my "spidey" senses. For I can feel a negative entity a mile away. It feels like an awful clawing feeling about my throat. Within days of my ghosts warning me, there is usually negative activity. They're awesome, my ghosts! I have tried to send them off, many times, but they refuse. They want to stay with me for some strange reason, maybe they're waiting for me to pass over. Maybe they're meant to stay, I don't know.
But chasing these entities has brought me to places I never thought I'd be. Exploring things I never thought possible. String theory, astral planes. So many exciting possibilties. And here I am, running my own team. I hope to bring this research forward. I bring quality evidence to the field, for I am a true "ghost magnet" and I believe that by putting together a team of magnets, I'll bring better evidence to the field. I think I do that every day that I step out there with Whaling City Ghosts' members. In my eyes, I've got the greatest group of paranormal women in the world! I may be a laughingstock now for I believe in negative inhuman entities, but I do believe someday, that more people will believe. Solid research, good evidence, and documentation will someday pay off. So when I step off this planet to join with my spirits who have been with me my whole life, and to find that eagle who even now waits for me, I'll know I did what was right! For even as much as I search for proof, for evidence, I also know that part of it starts inside of us all. In seeking the paranormal, what we find is our true selves. Our souls, our spirits. And to me, that is the greatest discovery of all!
Hugs, so great to have you here with us blue!!

I remember as a kid having an argument with a guy that was in my grade about the fact that ghosts didn't exist. I told him that if he believed in the Holy Ghost how could he not believe that ghosts exist. And I agree completely with you on the free-will agrument. I think that that is the thing. I think that some choose to stay behind. Some just don't get it. I think that that for some this might be their "hell" for lack of a better term. They feel they can't move on due to fear, penance, etc. I find it interesting that you mentioned about the Native American teaching. I am part Native American. I would love to hear more about that you learned, etc. When you mention the precognitive dreams, I had one as a early teenager. I dreamt that my grandmother died. The family was in her little apartment. One of my aunts was histarical about what we were going to do with my grandfather, etc... My grandmother hadn't been that sick and was considerably younger than my grandfather. I remember telling my mom about my dream in the car on the way to school. Not long after - maybe 2 months - my grandmother died and that exact scene from my dream played out. It was surreal. It hasn't happened again, though I have always viewed my dreams differently since then. I have had a friend of mine who passed away come to talk to me in dreams, but that only happened once or twice. Thanks for sharing about your ghostly alarm system and the rest of your experiences. It is nice to be able to talk to someone else who is like minded without feeling crazy.

After meeting some very kind and loving Native American spirits, I've come to believe that a person's beliefs may also have a lot to do with what happens when you cross over. For instance, some of my team members and I joined a "tree ceremony" where they celebrate a tree that is considered King Philip's tree. When we got back to have our "feast" the elders of the tribe spoke, asking the elder spirits and good spirits to join them. I think that many of the Native Americans did believe that they would stay behind on this plane of existence to be guidance to the new generations. So, what are you left with? Some very wise and very understanding Native spirits. They called me "friend" in their language, touched me physically, and I once saw the apparition of a Native American man on Anawan Rock, that I strongly believe was King Philip's war general, Anawan, himself. If I could take you for a moment, and put you into my body, to recall the memory of his eyes as we stared at each other, me in wonder, him in kindness and understanding, well, I think you'd know what I mean. I'll never in my life forget the way he looked at me, and met my eyes. There was so much in his eyes. It was only a moment that I saw him, but it's one I will always look upon fondly.
For me, studying the Native ways felt natural. I didn't know it at the time, and it was actually a psychic friend who told me, "the beat of the drums of two tribes runs in your blood." Later, I was to find she was right, I have Iroquious and Blackfoot in my heritage. So in a way, it explained some of the things I've experienced and felt in my life. Now, when I do protective or banishment work, it has a very Native feel to it. I always ask the elders to come join me at feasts, celebrations, and now, I never forget to feed the Puckwudgies. (Even if my son brings in a frozen bowl of food later and laughs at me for feeding them. Better safe than sorry, you NEVER want the Puckwudgies to be angry at you!) But for me, the world, nature, all the living things, they are my church, my religion, my strength. I look to Great Spirit as one would a father. The earth has become my mother. All its creatures are my family. I give thanks to them all for the gifts I receive. I have been very lucky, for I have been given strong totems and guides, spirit animals and friends. I have powerful protection and magic, and to me, they are gifts. It has been an awakening for me, and I have to say, if you have Native blood, you should try it and see if it works for you. Native American beliefs are such that if you are any religion, Christian, pagan, whatever, these beliefs fit right along with them. Everything is a circle. Everything is connected. Great Spirit made it so.
I know that as a small child, the amount of precognitive dreams was much more intense than it is now. But I do still have them on a regular basis. Just yesterday I had one come true. Sitting in the pizza shop, of all things to waste a dream on, LOL! Most of the time my dreams are of mundane every day things, but sometimes they are very important. I have come to believe that what I do in my sleep is very important to learn about. For I not only dream of things to be, I travel to places, and at times, bring things back with me. Very hard to explain, but I strongly believe in astral planes now. I think when I sleep my brain activity does something different from most people, and it is related to a spinal deformity I have that unfortunately, causes me great pain most days. (Though I did recently break down and took some cortisone shots, and have been having more good days than I've had in a long time.) I do have a doctor who knows my life story, and the paranormal activity I've experienced. He approved a sleep study, but unfortunately, I didn't do "my thing" that night. My insurance won't pay for multiple studies, so unless I can find someone who has to equipment to do a long term study on my sleep, I haven't gotten the answers I'm looking for. I even challenged every entity I've ever met up with to come and bug me that night, but either I didn't gain the right sleep level, or they weren't fooled, LOL! But I think the precognitive dreams and the astral travel are related physiologically somehow. But it all comes back to that string theory, and that circle. Everything is connected in its own way to every thing else. Strings have a song. If you can change your song, or if its naturally changed because of some factor, where might you go? What might you take back with you when you return? That, my friend, is a question I'd like to answer. For every day I see/hear/talk to people who are being affected by negative entities and it breaks my heart! I know what my life was like when they ruled me, and I can't see that for anyone else. If I could, I would drag those entities kicking and screaming into the light for all the world to see!!! For one thing, that little girl that still lives inside of me, that I will never let go, she wants answers, she wants to help others to understand how these things CAN happen, she wants to make it better for others, and she wants to make those entities stop hurting others. It's like a vendetta. But one that I have to say, I've come to love. I lived a large portion of my life thinking I was crazy. Thinking something was wrong with me. But now I've come to look at it as something RIGHT with me. For if this was not meant to be, if I was not meant to stand for those who can not stand for themselves, then what use am I? I think I have some use, I am the voice of those faceless victims, and I will not rest until I have proven that these things do indeed exist. So call me crazy, call me driven, don't call me late to dinner, but one of these days, I do believe that we will find the key to these cases.
So maybe it's strange that I never fully saw myself until I learned the Native path. Walked the red path. Until I became a paranormal investigator. Heard the stories of others who had experienced these things. That red path, it was the way that showed me that there is more to this world than what we can see. The early settlers here considered the Natives savages, and looked at them as primitive. But to tell you the truth, I see the settlers as barbarians, as primitive. For they never saw the heart of these people. In my eyes, the Natives here were closer to true spitituality, and closer to God than they could ever dream of being themselves. For the Natives knew there was an unseen world, a world of spirits. They respected it, they honored it. And sometimes, they walked the spirit world. Just as I do. So if you ask me why this has happened to me. I'll tell you very simply, "It's in my blood. Twofold!" I have walked other worlds, I have seen what human eyes don't normally see. In the end, everything serves Great Spirit. And I do so gladly. (Funny thing about that, and I promise, I'm almost done typing your eyes out! The day that I finally broke down and admitted that this is where I belong, that day that I offered myself in service to Great Spirit, one of the most difficult cases I've ever been involved with in my life, happened. Is it coincidence, or was it meant to be? I tend to think it was meant to be! Everything serves Great Spirit in the end!!)
Hugs, sorry, sometimes these typing fingers of mine just get going and don't know when to stop! But I also believe that when we share our experiences, we learn so much more!

WOW! I don't know there to start.
Thanks for sharing I guess would be the first thing.
Now that you have mentioned it, I have Native blood on both sides of my family. Being from NC, most people assume that they are Cherokee I cannot confirm or deny that at this time. I have been told that my family bares the resemblances of the Cherokee nation. I have always loved the fact that I am a decendant of such noble people. I agree with you about how they were treated and how wrong that was. If not for the Native peoples, the Europeans would have never survived here. And how to we repay that kindness? But death, distruction, and pushing them onto land that no one else wants. Oh until someone finds gold, gas/oil, coal, etc on it and then they try to love them again.
I also feel that if everyone was as kind and respectful of Mother Earth as the Natives, then our country and world would be in a much better state - environmentally that is. Nothing went to waste. If they killed an animal, they ate it, wore it, or used it in the creation of things. Like sinue for bows and hooves were boiled down to make glue.
I did learn some time back how to make dreamcatchers but I have never smudged them or performed the proper Native "spell" to make them work. Though I did make one for an English friend of mine in college who was interested in Native American culture He said that he never dreamt, until he hung the dreamcatcher over his bed. He cussed me. It was quite funny!!
You should see my house. I think that I have Native American decor in most every room. lol
I would love to adopt from a Native American reservation, but since I don't have my registry number I can't. Bureau of Indian Affairs rules.
I am very proud of who and WHAT I am. I am who the Creator God made me to be. Who am I to argue that?
Well, it's late and I have a busy day tomorrow. I do have wifi here - woohoo - so I am going to do my best to get back to the hotel to get on for SSC tomorrow night.
Sleep well. May the Spirits protect you and give you good sleep!
Have a good night!

Smudging in the Native American way is very easy. You don't necessarily have to have sage, but it's nice to have. You can use incense or even the air, it's not really the tools you have, it's the intention. With everthing being a circle, you start by facing east. Ask God, the good spirits, and the spirits of the elders, any totems you feel strongly about, for me it's eagles and horses, storms, LOL, of all things. Ask for whatever intention you're going for, like if you're blessing something then you ask for it to be blessed. Then turn to the south, do the same thing, west, then north. When you're done, thank the spirits for coming and helping you this day. It's something that is very simple, but can be elaborated on as needed. An offering of tobacco can be given if you have it. I find the way they work so spiritual it feels good to me to do these things.
And you are right, if the Natives ran the world, it would be a very different place. There were not many war-like tribes. Most of them were peaceful hunters/gatherers with a very spiritual way of life. I have made a new friend who is Pequot. He speaks to me sometimes and tells me things about how they do things. One thing he told me was about how they handled crimes. If a person committed a crime, he was sentenced to death. That person would have 7 days to set their affairs in order, say good bye to their families, and return to the council. When he returned he would be put to death. Imagine! Walking back to be put to death? I think I'd run away, guess I have no morals, LOL! But it goes to show how strong their moralities were!
That was the mistake the colonists made during King Philip's War. The colonists thought they could serve justice to the tribes. By executing Philip's three advisers, the colonists practically said that the tribes couldn't handle doling out their own justice. In my eyes, the man, John Sassamon, that was murdered, and so these three were executed for his murder, was a criminal to the tribes. He had turned coat on his people and joined with the colonists. He had betrayed his own kind. In doing so, he would have been found guilty of betrayal. He would have been executed. It would have been justice to them. No one would have been guilty of murder. So by slaughtering the three who were accused of his murder, it was like taking away the power of the people. And so, a war began. A war that I don't feel as if anyone won. Yeah, the colonists got the lands they so wanted, but they lost a valuable and unique people. Whenever I think of it, I get very sad. For I wonder, what could we be if we'd integrated them? Allowed them to keep their beliefs? And in understanding and love, we could have worked Great Spirit's will so much better than with death and destruction. Very sad!!
I hope you get all nice and comfie and warm in your hotel, and settle down and have one hell of a good time with us tonight! I always have a great time with the Spooky Crew! They're great investigators, and wonderful friends! I don't even know where this area would be without them bringing us great shows and spooky entertainment! God! Would be sooo boring around here, LOL! Hope to see you tonight Blue, have a great weekend! Hugs!

I think that we are two like-minded people. I might just have to make you a dreamcatcher and send it to you. Coming from the South, I had never heard of King Phillip's war, but I have been very interested in listening to the conversations about it on SSC. As far as totems, I would definitely say I have an attraction to dragonflies, peacocks (weird huh), and honestly I just really love anything that has meaning to my people. I love buffalo and wolves. I am excited for the new programming because that means I get to hang out with new friends and learn about new things. Knowledge is always good.

Knowledge is very important, and in knowledge, there is wisdom! Dragonflies!! You too! When I was a kid I would hold really still with my finger out and let dragonflies land on my finger. I still do it sometimes. I love them!! Hugs!!

Yeah, dragonflies are a fairly recent love of mine. Have you ever seen the Kevin Costner movie w/ the same name? I think that that is where my appreciation for them really came from though I always thought they were cool. We go tubing down the river here in the summer and we see tons of them. All different sizes and colors... I love the gorgeous blue and green ones. They will just come and light down on your leg or arm. It's just really neat. I love nature in general - w/ the exception of mosquitos, cockroaches and other creepy crawlies.

Oh that was an awesome movie! The spirit of his wife helps him to find his baby that he didn't even know he had! Great, great movie! I've always loved dragonflies and found out as an adult that they are one of my totems as a fire sign. It's funny because a lot of the things that go with fire signs definitely match up with me. But also, I had a natal chart done on my day and time of birth and it's so accurate it's not even funny, I was amazed. There is a part of it where it even tells me I will be drawn into matters of "death and dying"! Here I am a paranormal investigator, LOL! When my friend read it, she said, aw, you're such a little love. And she's right, there's a lot of libra and I forget what else, but most of my worst mistakes and biggest triumphs happened because of the love I have in my heart. Gets me in trouble, but also holds me up, LOL! But one funny thing about the chart, there's these three signs, I think it's rising, moon and sun signs. They're supposedly very important. All three of these signs for me are sun/fire signs. So if you ever wonder why I'm so attractive to ghosts, that might be the reason, I'm awfully shiny, hehe! But I did find it truly fascinating on how accurate it really was. Have you ever had one done?
Oh, and I hate creepy crawlies too, but I try to be nice to spiders, since a good friend of mine has spiders as a totem. I try my best not to squish them, and now I try to catch them and let them outside. The whole time, shouting, crying and grossing out, LOL! ARGH! Spiders!

No, I don't think that I have ever had one done. I know that I am a gemini... Is there a good place to do one online? I would almost think that I would be a water type sign. When I am on the lake or at the beach I feel so happy. Something about water! Plus there is something about the color blue that I love - then you look at my two things - dragonflies and peacocks - they are both blue/green. I am sure that had nothing to do w. why I picked my screen name! Well when I picked it, I was looking for an oxymoron.

I found a great website for totems and their meanings: www.legendsofamerica.com/na-totems.htmlDragonfly - Flighty and carefree, strong imagination, higher aspirations. Peacock - Immortality, dignity, and self-confidence Buffalo - Sacredness, life, great strength, abundance, gratitude. Wolf - Loyalty, perseverance, success, intuition, and spirit Thought that that was pretty cool info!

Awesome! I think I did my natal chart at like an astrology.com type site. They used to do them for free, not sure if they still do. You have to know what time you were born though to have a really accurate one. The stars keep on turning in the sky, so from hour to hour things do change. I'll see if I can find a site that does them. It's just hard to find someone who can read them.

I just did my natal online.... Sun Sign - Gemini Moon Sign - Scorpio Gemini is an air sign and Scorpio is a water sign. Here is what I found about AIR signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius—air elements: The Air signs possess the virtue of knowledge. This does not mean they are more intelligent than anyone else but are generally well-rounded and informed. They are good communicators. Most have a good grasp of the language and generally know a little something about everything - they can communicate well on any subject under discussion because they are so well-read and learned. They have good personalities and are easy to get to know. The Air signs are what the philosophers called seers or priests. These are mentally inclined people. They actively acquire knowledge through experience, education and association. The Air signs are curious, original, well-disciplined, quick thinking, and possess initiative. Pretty cool!! Here is what the site said about your sign - Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius—fire elements: The Fire signs exhibit righteousness. These people conform to the standard of moral law. They do what is right and are known for their sense of fair play. They are truthful, straight-forward, just, upright and virtuous in their dealings with other people. They demonstrate courage, fortitude, zeal and pugnacity. They have the mental and moral strength that enables them to venture into unknown waters and to persevere and withstand danger. They are confident in their actions. They have mettle, resolution, and tenacity. They will fight for their principles and have a stubborn persistence that is unwilling to recognize defeat. They are willing to keep fighting under all odds. They are aggressive and thrive on challenge. The Fire signs are of a spiritual nature. Their essential characteristic qualities are liveliness, energy, ardor, enthusiasm, courage and action. They have a firm, courageous and assertive disposition which is their most characteristic quality.

Oh yours is awesome! I love learning more about this stuff! When I did that natal chart I told you about, I found it so interesting! And so accurate! I've got to see if I can find the one I had, I printed it, and my friend said she can read the whole thing. It would be cool to have it fully read, I've only had little parts of it done so far. So I don't have a full picture on it, but what I know was pretty accurate. I never put much trust in astrology before I did the natal chart.
Funny thing, I am definitely a Leo, but at the same time, I'm sort of different, I'm a gentle Leo, I like to say. I am aggresive and most of the things that they say, but I tend to try to moderate myself. But if you want to talk stubborn! I am so stubborn, especially when I know I'm right, that you never, never want to get in an argument with me. Just ask my youngest son, he knows! He's a stubborn Libra, I'm a stubborn Leo, so well, yep, we argue a lot! (But I'm right of course, LOL, and can't wait for him to move out! The world has some lessons for that boy, hehe!)
